I purchased the DROID 2 Global last wednesday and almost everyday sometimes twice a day when i slide to unlock the phone it reboots and its getting annoying so i have 30 days to return the phone and im highly reconsidering switching to the DINC what do you guys think i should do replace the phone or switch it out for the DINC?

Sounds like you have a defective unit. I would take it back and get another one before you do anything to your phone

Replace it, definitely. I actually have a coworker who bought her daughter a D2G and had to return it a few days later due to some defect, though she didn't say what. I've seen a higher than average number of issues seeming to be defective units with the Global. It's unfortunate really.

Have had my D2G for about 5 weeks and have never had any issues with the slide lock. I would also suggest returning the unit.

Thanks for the input guys, I just have to find a time to go into town cause i live 56 miles away from the closest store.

Much appreciated!

I picked up a DG2 last Sunday. I exchanged my Droid Pro for it. The battery drained down is less than 2hrs from 70%. I had wi-fi and gps checked off. Only google push. No other push notifications. All my other settings a quite conservative to save power. On top of the fast battery drain the device heated up instantly to 105 degrees or higher. You couldnt do anything for an extended period of time. I was regretting the switch. I just missed having a bigger screen. ( The Pro should have been made bigger w/better resolution. Thats another topic for another time)

I brought it in yesterday to the VZW store where I purchased it. I had a wonderful tech person . She even said to me she has seen unusual heating coming from othere devices. They first thought it was my battery but after changing it and testing ithe device with a video it heated up again and gave off a scent from above the ear piece. She thought it was burnning wires. ( The processor is behind it) .

Please keep in mind I already went for an exchange so after 40 min of testing she explained the situation to her manager and instead of having them send me out a refurb they gave me a brand new one. I got lucky and so far so good . No overheating Im actually listening to music for over 40min with the desk media cradle. Temp has been staying at 89 degrees.

After reading a few of the postings here and elsewhere I agree there are an unusal number of defects. I hope I dont run into anymore . This is the first time in over a week I am enjoying this device. Both the ear piece and speaker for the media are loud and clear and no signs of overheating!

Hmm...seems like my girlfriend's D2G is having the same issue. Phone getting VERY hot and battery draining and then not charging. I thought it was a defective battery but she said the heat is coming from the top of the phone near the camera. I am going to have her go in and get a refurb from the store...maybe they'll give her a new one if we're lucky.

The Droid Incredible 2 comes out on May 8th. Maybe you would wanna hold out for that? Just throwing out options for ya!

the heat is coming from where the processor is located in the D2. so there is a chance that it is defective, but there may also just be a faulty app that is requiring a ton of CPU resources.

Hey all. Been having the same issues. This is my second D2G, and tomorrow I'm taking this one back for another replacement. I'm not so sure #3 will be any better since both have had the overheating, freezing, and slidelock reboot.

That plus the typing errors (that also occur on the Pro and X so it's a Motorola thing, not a D2G thing), the push email that really isn't (also on the Pro), the taking 2-3 taps to get the main keys and the call key to work... it's Motorola passing off a bad OS or bad hardware or both.

I keep seeing references to the overheating and freezing possibly being caused by faulty a app. But I have ZERO added apps on this one after a Hard Reset this week, and it's STILL doing it. SO if it's a bad app, it's one of the pre-loaded ones THAT YOU CAN'T UNINSTALL. And now, the screen goes black for 10-15 seconds after a call and it's not charging past 50%. So frustrating!!!

Well, I'm now on my third D2G. This one went 5 days before an occurrence of the slide-lock reboot. I was SO hoping the third would be the charm, but noooooo...
