I sent my perfectly working Gear S3 in as a trade for the Watch 3. I was denied the trade as Samsung said it didn't power on. So they returned it to me and charged me $200 (value of trade).I charged it up and it's working fine. They won't take it back on again. I don't need 2 watches, so I'm sending back the Watch 3. Never had a problem before when upgrading phones. Very disappointed in Samsung. Be careful if you're planning on trading in devices.

I don't trust trading in/up via shipping for those reasons..

The Watch 3 is such an awesome device! That's a bummer! You could sell it outright to offset the difference...

it was charged. And it was sent back to me without the band. Cust Svc said the photo they sent me of it didn't have a band. They offered me a whopping $10 credit towards a new band which on their site starts at $29.

Hmm, I just did this exact trade today. My S3 works just fine too. Very concerning. I've seen people suggest videoing the working watch and the boxing as proof of it working. Here's a thought. You charge it up, turn it off and send it off. 4 or 5 days later they open the box to a watch that the battery has died over the days in transit. Then they claim it doesn't power up.

So, to stop that from happening, I'll put it in watch mode that will get it there with plenty of battery life. Unless the instructions say different, I'm only sending the watch itself. They're not getting any of my bands.

I don't trust mail in trade-ins I usually go to the store to do my trade-ins. I always take a photo of the entire device before I trade it in.

Just got my email saying my Gear S3 trade-in was approved. The only thing different I did was include a picture of the watch turned on with a note stating that was proof of the fully functioning watch. Did the same thing with my Galaxy Book. Just waiting on it's acceptance.

Same thing happended to me, although on the day I shipped it, it was acting quirky, buy was working just fine when I shipped it. My only mistake was to not take photos as I ALWAYS do. This is the first time I have had issues with trade-ins. I believe that put the S3 with such a high trade in value was because they know the S3 is quirky and they could get a lot of folks to buy the W3 and then reject the S3 trades, hoping many would just give up and keep the W3. I was able to offset some of my S3 loss by selling my OG GW but still took a loss of $65 dollars. WHen I got it back, it was not working at all. They damaged the watch, but I can't prove it. Shame on Samsung!!!

This happened to me before with my phone trade in. I called and tell representative to have them do second inspection.

I recently took advantage of the the trade in program. Went from Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier to a Galaxy Watch 3. I made sure that it was fully charged the day I shipped the S3. I received an email a few days later saying my trade was accepted. Reading these comments had me nervous so I took a video of the watch turning on and off before I put it in the box. I never sent them the video. Glad things worked out for me.

They accepted my trade-in as well. I'm blown away that they gave me $190 credit for it. Almost seems like they were having a hard time selling out the GW3. I'm really happy with mine.
