I was told that when you pre order that they place a hold on the money you used to order. It will be charged right before it ships so if you check your bank account online, wait till the order goes from "memo" to "purchase" then you will know your phone is on the way. Mine still says "memo"

I decided to wait & not pre-order online since I'm too paranoid about losing my grandfathered data plan - so, I was just going to wait until I can actually just buy it outright in the store, and talk to people in person; when they try to act like I have to switch to a tiered plan I can look them in the eye & say "No, you're wrong. Your information is outdated" and be treated the right way.

I called the AT&T Small Business Center trying to pre-order and what I was told if I wanted to keep my unlimited data plan I would have to wait until the Atrix was released in their Corporate Stores on March 6th. If I wanted to give up my unlimited plan for one of the two listed on the web site I could pre-order on line and it would be shipped two to three business days prior to release.

I'm pretty sure that person didn't know what to do for you...countless people have on this forum have called their store and gotten it sorted out for them. I think it's just one of those situations where sometimes you call and get a representative without the know-how; other times you get someone good who knows what you're talking about and also knows how to make it happen, within reason of course.
Glad I didn't pre order. Hope to see it in store and get one if available. Money is tight so I'll see how much I make this weekend at work. Hope 50% off accessories work also so I can get a car dock.
I certainly hope it will come out this Sunday. I just pre-ordered the phone today and can't wait to use an Android phone for the very 1st time!!

Just a heads up for those squeamish about pre-ordering, in-store they not only let me keep my unlimited plan without hesitation, but lowered my monthly rate - since I have a Blackberry Enterprise plan which costs more than a regular unlimited plan.

I'll admit that while I was 99% sure it was fake, it did prompt me to check my order status again.
Well, even my girlfriend called me an a-hole for posting that. I guess looking at it in hindsight, it was not a very nice thing to do. I'm just a prankster by nature, and didn't mean any harm.

Funny you mentioned this, I saw it earlier on the XDA forums and just laughed. Of course when I saw your post last night I got a good laugh also... same type of "pranks" when the iPhone pre-order went up as well... everyone needs a good laugh!
