FINALLY!!! AT&T S5 Firmware update

So I went to update and ran into the space issue and it gave me the 24 hour wait so I bypassed it with the date trick. Now I have the 2 opposing arrows in the top left saying that it's downloading the update, but when I go to check the status and percent of the update from the Settings > About Device method it says "connecting to DM server, please wait." Does anyone know if it is actually downloading the update or stuck in some kind of loop?
While the update is downloading, the screen should show the progress of the download, counting off the MB downloaded versus the total MB in the update, with a blue line indicating percentage downloaded. If you're not seeing that, then it would appear that the update is not actually being downloaded.

I have an S5 that keeps telling me update interrupted try again in 24 hours. I have done the date trick and done a factory reset and it just keeps giving me that error. The phone isn't activated. Do you guys think it needs an active sim?

I would definitely think so. You could try updating with Kies 3, unless AT&T has that locked out.

Not sure if this was answered already. How's the remaining storage space after Lollipop update? Is it reduced a lot?

Yes Finally!!! Got the update last night... My wife's didn't though :/ hopefully tonight. I've been using the google launcher for sometime now so not a lot has changed but I do like it... its smoother, slightly faster but the notifications bar changed a lot. :)

Almost feels like a whole new phone!!! Oh wait I got it two weeks ago... It IS a new phone!!!! lol

Before installation of Lollipop, my S5's available storage space was 8.32 GB. It is now 7.44 GB.

Unhappy with this update so far. The new color scheme is gaudy, bright orange messages screen, seriously? White background with neutral gray or green text (active) on the alarm screen? Poor visibility! I have to look closely to see what days alarms are active on. Why is there no option to change the color scheme? That's basic functionality, this is 2015. Also the re-configuration of the blocking mode to "do not disturb" mode and hiding it as a sub-menu, which made it harder to find in settings was pointless, it was fine how it was, can't choose individual contacts to allow anymore either - can only select favorites list. I also don't like the new recent app page configuration. When I bought this phone I was perfectly satisfied with the interface, seriously considering attempting a "downgrade" back to the old version, though I don't want to go through the hassle of having to re-configure a bunch of stuff.

Well yes, you can downgrade, but that's not a permanent fix. Your phone will be offered the update and you can refuse it, but after you've done that a couple of times, the update will eventually just go ahead and install without asking your permission, unless you stay disconnected from WiFi. .

That is normal when using ART in Lollipop. See, #1.2 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide.

Also, on the carrier released hybrid model from Verizon, G900V, they expanded the system partition during their unique, 2 stage, update to Lollipop, to accommodate extra Verizon bloatware, thus, reducing the available storage. AT&T added their extra bloatware in the last Android 4.4.4 update.

Yes, I've read your guide and have found it very informative and helpful. So, I was not surprised at the amount of space taken up by the update.

I did my homework, cleared out odds and ends, and made multiple backups (I never rely on just one method). The Lollipop update went smoothly. Afterward, I wiped the cache partition.

All in all, I feel AT&T did pretty well with their Lollipop update. I'm pleased with it... no complaints.

Also, I wish the gs5 had the drop down menu from lollipop, I like the flashlight option there and would be nice to have it..

If you download an app called Clean Master, its a really good app to keep your phone running smooth plus you can toggle on an addition to the drop down menu on the phone including a flashlight and much more.

Actually, AT&T's Lollipop update has the flashlight. It's a small widget.

The only app I use is CCleaner (formerly "CrapCleaner" because it doesn't clear any processes on my phone which will just restart anyways. Only gets rid of junk files and crap.

How's battery life after Lollipop update? Is it the same or better, worse?
I didn't get it pushed to mine yet. but I'm purposely not forcing it as I'm fine with KitKat battery life and don't want to risk it with update.

I still have not been able to update on my S5. Everytime I check for a system update, I get a message that says, "Software updated interuppted" I am also not able to update through kies, as it says the device software is up to date. Very frustrating.

Have you checked to make sure you have at least 3 GB of free space on your device? (SD card doesn't count.)
