This afternoon, there was an update in my apps for carrier services. Now, RCS actually connects and works again! Just want to show this with everyone...

RCS only works for specific carrier. So, not sure what is the purpose of your post

I think most major carriers support RCS, and ever since beta 3 of Q, my RCS has been broken as many users are reporting that their RCS feature has been broken on the issue tracker and on the support.messages forums.

No, actually only one US carrier (in addition to Google Fi), Verizon, supports RCS universal profiles. Other carriers do support RCS but with carrier specific profile which is useless unless you have a carrier branded phone with carrier specific messaging app.
Internationally, it is the same story. I think if you check the carrier list on Google's site, you can count them in one hand globally.

well that part's true although in the future Google is trying to take out the middleman so to speak and provide direct support for RCS.

It is very distant future as Google only started the work in Europe. So most of us could care less about RCS because we probably won't ever see it within the useful life time of Pixel 3. And RCS is only good for you if you are texting others on the supporting network.

Oh yes but I'm still thrilled to have it back, and there are a couple of people I know that have RCS on Verizon which means you're going to send 105 megabyte files easily and see typing indicators.

Very wrong :P

RCS is too little too late. When so called Universal Profile is not so universal, only a handful of carriers globally support it, you know it is a dead format.

And unfortunately, not everyone uses WhatsApp or some other messaging platform.

True, but one forth of the earth population all use WeChat. Just saying. We probably have to live with SMS for another half century or so.

Yeah well that in the fact that iPhone users who message Android users won't have RCS probably so it is what it is.

Actually in the UK RCS pretty much works on all devices running Pie and on almost every network. Can message between networks as well because Google enabled it using their server. I love RCS now. Have migrated away from Hangouts to messages and RCS with my husband and daughter.

And glad you got it working again Eric
Kirsten, thank you very very much! I know that we are in a beta test environment but there's no reason why I should take Google this long to get RCS working on our RCS compatible phones if you're on a compatible carrier such as yourself or in my case Verizon wireless. And I'm being patient by saying that. Yep, absolutely, I'm so glad that it's finally working again!
