Finally, Thunderbolt owners will get GB! HTC says September!

GB is old news for those of us rooted users. :D

BAMF 2.3 is just awesome right now, the fact that I can use My Verizon and NFL Mobile is a definite plus.

Since GB fixes the bug where my texts I send to my wife end up going to my friends, I'll be counting down the days (when we actually are told a day). *BIGTHUMBSUP*

This...

But really, GB looks identical, with the exception of the quick settings in the pulldown notifications.

While I really love the Sense 3.0 stuff dev have been adding to the GB roms, most of them have a few bugs that keep me from using them. My Verizon or NFL not working, Video Cam FC, Tethering not working, etc. I have tried just about all of them and they each have their own bugs. But the "official" leaked GB rom I have been running works great. I don't even miss not having root.

Will GB be really noticeable on the Thunderbolt? When GB was OTA'd to my Droid X it was like a totally new phone graphically which may be more a motoblur versus a GB change. If it wasn't for the subsequent bugs and reboots, it made the phone feel brand new again. Most posts are saying that we will not get sense 3.0. Will there be any tweaks at all to the current sense? I miss the re-sizable widgets on the X.
So far based on posts I'm reading there may only be a slight performance bump that may be barely noticeable.
One thing I think that is a GB change that I liked was the app drawer where you could choose to view between all apps, downloads, and recent.
My phone works great today unrooted but I'm always excited about a positive change.
I was gonna wait till my phone made it to Gingerbread before I would consider rooting. I need it to be more a phone right now.

If it gets me Skype video... I'll be happy.

It IS going to do that, right...?

I want to say it is. I know it is working on mine, but I don't remember if I am using the market skype or some hacked version I found somewhere.

You mean like no vm notifications?

LOL.

Lol yes! I truly hope they decided to fix that obvious bug, but you never know... There are some really idiotic things that go on in Verizon that give me hours of entertainment.

Do I have to root my phone to install that ROM or is it a full RRU

SHIFTS3NS3 is Customer ROM classified as a Sense 2.1/3.0 hybrid. I rooted after I had flashed GB on my phone using Revolutionary. I tried two Sense 3.0-based ROMs Synergy and Das BAMF, but I was just not comfortable with how warm my phone got while running those.

Skype supports video on the Thunderbolt currently, but using the FFC requires Gingerbread. So to answer your question, yes, Gingerbread *will* bring Skype video. And since its Android 2.3.4, it also has Gtalk video.

I'm not trying to make a case for or against rooting. But your comment here is sorta "subliminally profound" :) . Seriously. Everyone should take a deep breath and fully examine why they are rooting. Rooting brings with it a lot of added responsibility for the user, including fending for your own updates, because VZW's factory OTA updates will no longer be possible when you are rooted. Rooting is fine, just have a good reason.

Dude. This might be the first confirmation of 2.3.4.

You didn't notice that all these leaks coming out are all 2.3.4?

I'm not a rooter and the posts on Engadget and AndroidCentral about the official September release both indicated that they weren't sure at this point if it would be 2.3.4 or 2.3.3 at this point. Guess I missed something!

I really like the sense ui, HTC design, and tbolt specs, could have been a flagship phone, but as we speak I have my third warranty tbolt in the mail. If third time is not a charm, will switch phones...I have an upgrade on another line I can use...its safe to say I think HTC could have done better....

I'm not a rooter either and I'm running 2.3.4 right now. Its not bad, nothing to get super excited about though.

I think everyone is just getting bored, because their TBolts are "just working". Gotta have something new to troubleshoot! :D

You're joking right? All I read about is one problem after another. I think the tbolt is the most buggy android phone ever built by a long margin. It has tremendous potential but is utterly hamstrung by bogus software and a ui that burns up all the extra ram and processing power it could deliver.

For some, and for lucky others (like me) it's the best phone I've come across yet. (Until a new dual-core, LTE, HD screen comes out)

You must remember, people NOT having problems aren't going to come to the forums and praise the Thunderbolt all day.
