Finding serial # on Nexus 7 (2013 without original box, tablet won't boot)

Title basically says it all. Since it's not physically printed on the device, and I can't go through the menu to get to it, the only thing I've been able to find is the listing of the "serial number" on the bootloader screen - but Asus indicates that the 'number' listed there isn't a valid serial number.

Wondering if anyone out there who can find their actual Serial # either through the menu, or by looking on the box, could check the number shown on the bootloader screen (accessed by holding POWER and VOLUME DOWN for about 15 seconds - it'll show the serial number towards the bottom, then you can just restart the tablet) and see if they match, or, if not, if you might run it through a hexadecimal -> decimal converter (such as this one) to see if that corresponds?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Tried it on mine (wifi only version).
The 3rd line up on the screenshot matches the serial number listed on the status by the OS.
So of you are getting the same screen as I am, that should be your sn.

Hope that helps

Take a look at the back of the Nexus 7, just below the "ASUS" logo. There should be a barely visible (it's transparent) sticker there, the first line of which has the device's IMEI number.

My sticker must have rubbed off long ago, as there's no sticker or adhesive residue there now...

Hmm... Mine's essentially identical to yours other than being the "flo 32G" variant, being on an older bootloader, and of course with a different SN. Asus was insistent that that wasn't the SN as it wasn't long enough.

On the plus side, I'd been asking as Asus was saying they couldn't issue an RMA without it, but in the end a supervisor was able to issue an override. Pretty awesome service team they have there, excited to get it back up and running after it's been comatose in a drawer for a couple of years (been using my 2012 N7 since, still chugging along (albeit a bit more slowly and less refined) after all this time).

Glad you were able to get it replaced.
I double checked again... Matches sn letter for letter.

So a few weeks later, after an Asus rep agreed to take it in for repair, the service department wanting to charge $202 because it didn't have a printed SN on it (despite their acknowledging the service for that issue would have been covered despite it being out of warranty - meaning SN for tracking of warranty status was irrelevant), and about a dozen calls in to finally get Asus's left hand to talk to its right.... I now have my tablet back in and up and running! :) I was about ready to just give up on about every one of those calls, but in the end they did as they'd committed, which was a very kind gesture on their part in that they provided a no-charge repair on a device purchased 3 1/2 years ago. Very happy!
