Finger print scanner not waking my phone

Hey guys I'm using the app on my phone to post this and I am not sure how to find out if there's already a posting about this so if there is I'm sorry you can delete this and point me in the right direction. But ever since the 8.1 update I received I can no longer wake my phone while I'm in a phone call using the fingerprint scanner. I have to hit the power button 2 times slowly in order to wake up my phone. The reason I have to do it slowly is because if I double tap it too fast it will open up my camera instead lol. I seem to recall that in the 8.0 version of Oreo I could wake my phone while in a phone call with my fingerprint. I've been looking through all the settings to see if there's something I could disable to get back to that or enable in that matter but I would love some help if anybody has any information on this.
