Capacitive sensors are just more reliable/consistent in my opinion. Still have on my my 6th Gen iPad and even though FPS works well for me on the Note, it still doesn't compare to my iPad. Would have no problem if the used one side mounted on frame of Note.
On Note it does matter if fingers too dry or too moist. Weird quirk I have is where if I get call or notification when sleeping and I try to unlock phone with fingers slightly numb from sleeping laying down and lack of blood flow to fingers, it won't pick up the print until get blood circulating to my fingers normally. With capacitive sensor no issue in that scenario. They are much more forgiving.
I have an iPad Pro (and iPhone) and honestly I think even Face-ID works better than the FPS under varying conditions.
But 9/10 times... or better... my Notes FPS is just fine. As long as my fingers not too dry, too wet, etc.
