fingerprint does not work most of the time - note 8

i find fingerprint unlock works less than 50% of the time. first off, adding a finger seems to require a lot of work (ie. move your finger up, down, left and right...etc...etc).

then after it's registered. it seems to work for a while. then it stops working...

so what gives??

Works perfect for me. There's a reason it has you move your finger around while setting up, so it will recognize your print at several angles. I would try setting up again and make sure your actually moving your fingers around during set up.

well, i did (move my finger around) just that when i set it up. in fact, i had set up 3 fingers.

then one time when i use Uber and chose to pay using google pay. it asked to confirm using fingerprint, but it NEVER work. that was so frustrating trying to request an Uber ride but it does not recognize my finger to allow me to pay using google pay.

perhaps when they move the fingerprint to the front (note9), it may be better.

does anyone else have similar issues, like me, using fingerprint but it only works 50% of the time, if that?

No issues here. I set up fingers on both hands and they all work great. It’s been six months now. I might have an issue one or two times out of 100, but that just means I pick my finger up and put it back down. The only time it won’t work is if my hands are wet, but that’s to be expected.

Set it up for only one finger, but do again as if it were another finger. Actually I did the same finger as if it were 4 fingers. This increases the odds that it will work quickly, the first time. I found that the only time I have trouble with the fp sensor is when my hands have been in water even if they have been dried. I then use the iris scan, which is slower but usually works, too.

Do you use hand lotion or are your hands frequently wet or dirty (mechanical)? That will interfere with the sensor. It seems to me there are virtually zero issues with this device, by all accounts here and other sources online. You might have a faulty device/sensor if you answered the above with a no..

I yet to have a problem with FP on the Note 8.

The S8+ on the other hand had a fault that when using Fingerprint Gestures caused FP to stop working correctly.

I use the fingerprint unlock many times throughout the day and it works great all the time.

I detest where and how FPS is. Stopped using it and use Iris only. Case has a lot to do with FPS accuracy and finding it

maybe i will try your suggestion to set up three fingers (for the same finger).

for those of you that work properly, do you just tap your finger lightly or you need to place and hold your finger on the sensor.
