Google Assistant Go

Hi I recently bought an xGody x32 for my dad, thinking he could use the hey Google feature, as he is partially blind, I've bought previous big button phones and they just don't last, trying a different approach.

However it only seems to have the lighter version Google assistant go, which seems to be as much use as a chocolate fire guard, I've tried downloading the proper assistant, but it doesn't support it.

If anyone knows of a work around that would be great, just need a way, to access contacts through a voice command, EG another app which could do this, or need to send the phone back, lastly if I do send it back, is there any cheap budget phones that would definitely support the full hey Google function,Thanks.

The main reason a phone would come with a lighter "Go" version of a Google app would be if it were running the stripped-down Android Go. From what I can find on the web, that phone should be running full Android, but for these more obscure manufacturers, the specs on the web might not be entirely accurate. Are you able to share a screenshot of the About Phone menu in the system settings?
