OMG! YES, I have a solution. If you have a rooted phone with custom recovery, TWRP for me (look it up if you can, very worth it), you can reboot to recovery, and from there go to WIPE. Then select ADVANCED wipe and click/highlight wipe dalvik cache and wipe cache, then reboot. Immediately, my phone said "starting android apps"....took a bit, and then pow! FINGERPRINT SETTINGS WERE BACK and I've reloaded my prints!

I had the same issue all I had to do is go to general settings then hit the (Backup & Reset Tab) after that tap on (network settings reset) and follow the steps and restart phone. Hopefully this helps some of you.

I had the same issue, I went into hardware control mode then back to normal phone use and it sorted it self out. Tunn off phone hold down power and volume Up and Down together for 10 seconds. It will start in hardware control mode presss power button and phone will restart. This should clear the fault.

This worked, same problem fingerprint options disappeared, won't scan, tried restarting the phone multiple times. Did this once and it worked.

I love the fingerprint scanner on this phone, and it is usually how I unlock it. Today, it stopped trying to read my fingerprint. When I went to settings, the fingerprints section is totally missing. I have restarted it twice and it is as if there never were fingerprint options. I don't get it. Anyone else run into this?

few days ago this happened to me, in my case the problem was the battery I changed recently was a bad one, it was growing, just put my old battery inside and fingerprint is back.

I replaced the back on an LG G6 today as the customer had dropped it and it shattered the entire back. Everything works except no fingerprint reading and it is gone from the settings. I will pass on to the customer to try the hardware control mode and see if it will start working again.

If fingerprint option is missing in your phone watch this video to solve this problem click on this link

Well actually it really works. Video is too long and in unfamiliar language. So I'll save you the effort. You just need to go to security settings and remove the pattern protection. I.e. no screen lock at all. Then you restart the phone, and YEAH, the fingerprint option is back in menu.

The same thing happened to me & I found the solution! Shut your phone off and then hold down the volume up volume down button at the same time and then the power button hold it together for 15 seconds and a screen will come up with two barcodes and then it will prompt you from there I had to try it several times before it works

Hi
Try this solution
Power off your G6. Press down the volume up and down key while powering it back on. You'll enter another mode where it shows IMEI number etc. Power your G6 back on normally and you'll see the option reappear. It worked for me.

Hi! I've tried ALL "magical" solutions from this post and NONE worked!! Restarted my phone thru security settings and also thru recovery boot, also tried hardware control, and also removing the screen block as the YouTube video... NOTHING WORKED!!

I Also buyed thru eBay a new Home Button/Fingerprint Flex, and replaced myself... CERO!! NOTHING WORKS!!

I was also having problems with the volume down button, not working every now and then...

Decided to inspect my logical board, see what I found: (Problem due to missing contact, false contact)

This phone (LG G5 SE) was bought NEW in 2016 and aint received any mayor bumps, hits or beating. So for me it's almost unbearable that a 2 year phone has this kind of issues. Nokia ruled this contact clips like 20 years ago and some of those phones are still rocking today... this guys at LG cannot make some reliable ones this date???

NO MORE LG for me!!!

I also tried soldering some chrips supplements, but it didn't work... The fingerprint setting came back to menu, but there was no way to record any new prints, the new sensor didn't work... I realized other contacs have similar issues and almost none of them sit to the right height... I GAVE UP.

Hello all,

I have a fix, which worked on Huawei with the same problem; fingerprint option disappeared.

Restarting my phone with VOLUME UP + VOLUME DOWN + POWER buttons worked only after I have created an empty folder "dload" under the root folder (right at Internal Storage).

This is where my phone looks for an update package. It shows a failed to upadate message after restarting with VOLUME UP + VOLUME DOWN + POWER buttons and forces you to restart. Then my fingerprint options were back.

Thanks! This worked for me. Fingerprint option in biometrics was gone, so removed pin from lock screen and restarted and fingerprint was back.

Came here to share my thoughts and solutions.

Unfortunately when the option disappears it suggest that you may facing with a hardware issue, so am i... It happened to me aswell, i have tried few of these methods above, and as used to be a phone repair technician i decided to open my phone (lg v30)

Same as you guys option disappeared one day to another, so after trying few of your methods none of them worked, i opened the phone and i realised my finger print scanner/lock button connector was sligthly offset, so i removed the old double sided tape with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol and and reseated the connector on the back cover. On the v30 the connector is pushed down by the back cover... I applied 3 layers of the tape and it worked like a charm.

( I DO NOT RECCOMEND OR ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO DISASSEMBLE THEIR PHONES WITHOUT ANY EXPERINCE OR KNOWLEDGE, THEREFORE I CANNOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR BLAME FOR THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY AN UNAUTHORIZED PERSON IN YOUR PHONE!!!)
