Fingerprint options missing

I love the fingerprint scanner on this phone, and it is usually how I unlock it. Today, it stopped trying to read my fingerprint. When I went to settings, the fingerprints section is totally missing. I have restarted it twice and it is as if there never were fingerprint options. I don't get it. Anyone else run into this?

Hello, my samsung galaxy tab a7 has not got the fingerprint scanner in biometrics and security. Online it says a7s have the option but mine only has face. Just wondered if this might be a problem since i want fingerprint.

Welcome to AC!
If you go to settings>top search bar type finger does fingerprint show up?

Welcome to Android Central! I'm guessing you're confusing the Galaxy A7 phone with your Galaxy Tab A7 tablet. The A7 phone has a fingerprint sensor, but the Tab A7 does not.

I tried everything - I was googling for two days and even took it back to the place that had just replaced my screen, thinking they did something to it - out of sheer luck, there were other reasons why I took it back to the place that had just fixed my cracked screen and when I picked it up the sensor still had not been fixed - ironically I continued to Google, came across this forum, tried the simple and quick solution listed below and Bam! My fingerprint option was back in my settings menu and I was able to set it up and go from there! Motorola really needs to fix this because I dont understand why a factory reset wouldn't fix something like this, especially since it's such and easy fix

Well actually it really works. Video is too long and in unfamiliar language. So I'll save you the effort. You just need to go to security settings and remove the pattern protection. I.e. no screen lock at all. Then you restart the phone, and YEAH, the fingerprint option is back in menu.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
