Fingerprint reader fails intermittently

Is anyone having issues with their fingerprint reader and have a fix? Mine has worked ok for about a year but now when I try to unlock my phone sometimes it won't vibrate or unlock. I get a pop-up message that the reader isn't working to reboot my phone if the problem continues. Rebooting fixes it for a short time then the fingerprint reader stops working again.

Welcome to Android Central! Has it been more than a year? If not, then regardless of any possible solutions offered here, I'd consider contacting LG for warranty repair or replacement while you still have time.

Yes, it's been barely over a year.

Ugh. Are you in the US or elsewhere in the world? Warranties are up to 2 years in many other countries.

I'm in the US. I may just upgrade to the Stylo 5 since the fingerprint reader is one of the handiest features.
