fingerprint scanner placement

Going from 7 Plus to 2XL to Note 8, it took a while to adjust. The center location with a round sensor definitely feels more accurate/faster, but as far as location, I've gotten used to it after a couple of days. Right now it's good enough not to bother me, but I definitely wish it was set up like the Pixel.

Because the fingerprint sensor is in the back and hard to get to, I'm constantly smuggling the camera lens.

When I say I'm always making adjustments... I mean I haven't written off the FPS completely. It's a new phone, figuring things out and am open to going back and trying the FPS over other means. This will be my primary phone for the next year or two.

I have been mainly using retina of the time I've had the phone. I have posted that I do find it super fast for me loading up home screen before i need to even bring phone up to face but it's good to have other options available depending on how you get, grab or hold the phone... Especially after discovering that the FPS has been reading my recent prints pretty fast and about 90% of the time first try.

But as good as the FPS has been in reading my print... there is no getting beyond this fact... the FPS, regardless of reason they had to, is not in the best location at all to be able to implement as quickly and naturally as other phones where the FPS is in a better location.

Are you could use that crazy fast iris scanner are the super turbo fast face detector ,are the any number of passwords are swipes they all work

With the Note 4, you had to actually swipe your finger for it to work. Note 5 was the "normal" way where you just had to touch it. I find the scanner on my Note8 super-fast and accurate. I got used to the placement quickly.

Honestly, if the biggest problem on this phone we have to discuss about is FPS placement then I'm ok with that and no major issues to deal with like freezing, bootlooping, red tint on screen, etc.

Definitely not like the discussions had on the Note 7 forum... that section was on fire!

Sadly won't happen on this forum.

Dang you😜 just when I dang near forget about that mess with the note7 you bring it up. Lol.

After all the reviews saying the FPS Location was dumb and sucked I figured I'd hate it. However, it's been a complete non issue for me. Granted I use a case most of the time, without a case it's a little more of an issue.

It's a non issue especially if you have a case on. I've never smudged my camera because of it on this phone or on my s8 when I had it. I use it all the time and it's easy

I worried about the missing home button and fps on the back for laying my phone on my desk at work and having to pick it up to unlock, but with the pressure sensitive home button and safe zone set for work I can use it like I always did with S7 edge.

I do think it's too high, although by adding a middle finger print it's easier to reach it. I suppose I just don't like rear fingerprint scanners. I use my phone at lot on flat surfaces and don't like having to pick-up the phone to unlock.

I love the FPS location on my Note 8. I do have big hands. For me the location is natural to how I hold the phone with one hand. If the FPS location was in the middle of the back of the phone it would be much harder for me to use.

I agree a Google phone style/location would be better. I had that on a 6P and liked it a lot. But it took me no time at all to get used to the N8 FPS, and I like it quite a bit, mostly because it works faster and more consistently than the one on my S7E. I never smudge the camera lens. Just slide the finger onto the scanner and it's unlocked. Works great.

Location of FPS is terrible on the Note 8. Using four digit code to unlock phone. Very satisfied.

I get that the location isn't the best, but it took me about a day to adjust to the location. I never miss it and smudge the camera. It unlocks quickly and just works the way it's supposed to. I don't have big hands either. I also use the retina scanner but definitely use the fingerprint as my go to.

I had issues with my S8 plus but the note seems a little easier. I use it to access apps that allow the scanner I lock my device with the pattern.
