Fingerprint sensor on lock screen

Hello!

I am trying to set up my new s7 egde to unlock with my fingerprint (I've added my prints, selected the fingerprint to unlock option) but when I go to unlock my phone, I just swipe up and it takes me to my home screen, and when I place my fingerprint on the sensor nothing happens. Any advice? I've looked up a few setup guides and I think I've followed all their instructions.

Check your smart lock settings, you may be in your "unlocked" location. Also check the lock timeout, I have mine set to immediate, you may just not be waiting long enough if it's set differently. Btw, on your start screen where you swipe, you've got your 2 quick app icons, in the center there should be a lock icon. If you touch it, it should move down and lock the device. Good luck!
