So, just got mine in today. I really like having some storage beyond the 16 gigs of my HDX7. But, after just a bit of playing with it I'm already considering returning it. Its slow compared to the HDX, and Hearthstone says that it doesn't meet its specifications, a warning that I don't get with the HDX. I might try to give it to the wife (who still has a 2nd gen Fire) and either go back to my HDX or get something else with more memory, maybe the old HDX but with 32 gigs. I think I'm going to give it a few more days before I decide, but initial impression is less than glowing, which is frustrating considering I've been waiting for a new Fire to replace my HDX from 2013. I'm torn because I can't really game with my HDX because of the low memory, whereas the HD10 can have as much memory as I want to toss at it, but the SoC can't necessarily run it.

Anyone else try the new Fire tablets yet?

Edit. After using it for a bit, I find that I really like the form factor. I was concerned about it being long or tall, but it's nice. In portrait it's not much wider than the hdx7, so it's easy to hold. And watching a movie in landscape the video nearly uses the whole screen, not much of a black bar on top and bottom. Reading is nearly painful, not something I'll spend time reading with. The text looks fuzzy compared to the hdx. There is lag when you hit the home key, and also lag with the keyboard.

I've decided to give this to my wife, if she wants it, return it if not, and wait for a new hdx. A Fire HDX10 would be an amazing device. I could live with this less than stellar screen if it even used the same internals as the old hdx.
