Firmware update failure. Please help!

My phone keeps recognizing that i have an update available. Every time I try to install it, it fails about half way through and reboots itself. I tried installed samsung kies in hoping it will help me install my firmware. However, while kies does recognize I have an out of date firmware, it keeps telling me that my device's firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies. Can anyone help me with this?

Is your device rooted?

Check settings > About device > Status and see what Device Status (all the way at the bottom) says.

If you're NOT rooted, and this says "modified", and you have an SD card installed, try removing it, rebooting, and then try the update without the SD card installed. No, that doesn't make sense to me either, but it seems to have worked for some people.

If you ARE rooted, that's why the update won't finish, although I think if that were the cause it wouldn't even start.

Sorry I am new to this. I checked my device status and it says normal. I did not root my device. I just tried removing my SD card to update the firmware but still no luck with it succeeding.

A little more information would be helpful:
- what version firmware do you currently have
- what carrier are you with
- what version does the update reference

I had a failed firmware OTA update before. I try to do it using the computer, but it gave me a message saying that the OS is up to date. I think they delay the software push for computer based install. After a day, I was able to download it.

So, may be a wait for a day or two and check for updates on Kies?

My carrier is verizon.
My current firmware is PDA:LHE/PHONE:LHE/CSC:LHE (VZW) according to samsung kies.
The version it references to update to is JRO03L.I535VRBLK3, which includes the andriod 4.1 JB update. My current andriod version is 4.0.4.

also keeps shutting off automatically then restarts phone continuously. Same goesfor my PRL, software's, and all my Android systems installed prioritization are disabled too. Factory reset hasn't helped.
