Firmware Update Gear S3

Yeah, pretty much everyone. When someone states they're on ATT or whatever carrier, then they're referring to the S3 they bought from the carrier, which is the LTE version. The Bluetooth models are independent of the carriers and play no part in which carrier you use for your cellular usage.
I agree with this... Mentioning the carrier is only relevant if you have an LTE S3. Otherwise it's confusing.

It might not be obvious to everyone, but where you buy the S3 is relevant because carriers only sell LTE, and non carriers only sell Bluetooth.

I erroneously thought I had the update and blamed it for my abysmal battery life. Did factory reset and increased battery at least x3.

It seems after updates there's always some Rogue app that kills the battery, so just restarting a watch usually clears that problem

just got my update on my S3 with AT&T. However after I updated the watch all my outgoing calls placed from the phone default the audio to the watch how do I stop that from happening? Thanks

Hey guys!

I recently bought a Samsung S3 gear classic, and right away I got the FW upgrade to 3.0.
Since I only used it for a day and a half, I cannot really say anything about battery life. However, I did notice that when I turn on the wifi on the watch, and try to browse the different wifi networks, it goes INCREDIBLY SLOW.

I was wondering if anyone else found this issue, or if maybe it's a hardware issue?

Thanks!

I am on Tizen 3.0.0.1 for my Bluetooth Gear S3. Software version R760XXU2CQL1. I just got this two days ago. I was on 3.0.0.0 prior to this. Anyone else get this update?

I have an LTE phone from TMobile but haven't gotten anything from them yet. Who is your carrier? I live in Jacksonville, BTW.

Hello and happy New year!!
Does anybody have an issue with the Audio guide at shealth. Before the update when I run only with my watch I hear my pace and distance. Now nothing.

As an update ... running Tizen 3.0.1 on an AT&T LTE Gear S3. I initially saw some new sluggishness after the update. When I lifted my wrist, turned the dial, typed in a PIN, etc... always seemed like a slight hesitation. I did a factory reset and that went away. Since doing the reset, I've gone a full 48 hours on a charge and still have 47% battery left. So I recommend a factory reset after you do the upgrade to clean things up. Unlike a reset on your phone, its pretty quick to get the watch set back up the way you want it.

I was about to factory reset the day I got the update but decided to wait it out and see if it got any better. I turned the watch off to charge it faster and once it was charged, I turned it back on. I'm now getting very close to the same battery life that I was getting pre-update.

Hello, when I running the Gear S3 acoustically announces the "heart rate", the "calories burned", etc. Now after update I can't hear anything. Does anybody have the same problem;

my battery life after this update is terrible. i pulled my watch off the charger yesterday at 11:30am at 100%. By 2:30pm it was at 70%. Then it vibrated at 6:00pm telling me that it needed to be put on the charger. The battery was at 15%. After 2:30pm I didn't touch the watch again until it vibrated at 6pm. I factory reset the watch on sunday last weekend because of the bad battery life. Last night i called Samsung and the lady didn't even try to get me to factory reset or do anything else. she jumped right into explaining to me how i had to send it into them.

In case some of you are not aware of it, Samsung phone support is the worst on the planet. Their answer for EVERYTHING is to send it in. They go right down the list of canned questions and answers without even listening to you (assuming they can even understand since they are clearly off-shore support). Almost 100% of the time I end up eventually solving the problem myself.

Have you installed a new app since the update? Apart from that, maybe an app that previously had installed is not fully compatible with 3.0 and it is causing the battery drain?

no i haven't, i did turn off the reporting diagnostics and usage info, and so far today i have only lost 4% in the past 4 hours

Have you tried doing a factory reset after upgrading?

I installed the latest update when it first came out and the last two days the battery has drained by the afternoon. Today so far it seems normal. I am not sure why the battery issue just popped up. I don't use my Gear S3 for taking or making calls. I do have it connected to a Pixel 2 and no longer a Galaxy S8. I do use my watch for making purchases but only a few times per day.
If this continues I guess I'll have to try a factory reset.

Same for me. I updated a while ago and battery drain has been bad but not everyday. Strange.
I factory reset my Gear S3 late last week and the battery was fine for a few days but today it was down to 47% before noon and died around 3:30 pm with Power Saving mode ON.

I am not sure what is killing the battery. I don't take or make calls on it. It's connected to my Pixel 2 as I no longer own a Galaxy phone. Thanks for any suggestions.
