First Battery Life Results are only so - so

What are your power settings like? If you're running everything at max 5:48 screen on time is really good.

On my Note 9 I set my power settings to medium, no difference in my mind (I came from an OnePlus). I easily got 9:40 to 10:00 screen on time. I'm sure with my Note 10+ it'll be even better. The battery life on this thing is amazing.

I'm *thrilled* with my first day battery life.

Out of curiosity, what do you do that has you spend 7 hours out of 15 hours on your phone?

Ha! That's not a typical day for me. I recently ruptured my Achilles and had surgery Wednesday, so yesterday was a day spent with my leg up doing nothing. Thus, exorbitant phone time.

Ouch, sorry about the achilles. Had a friend of mine do the same (while celebrating a Super Bowl touch down) a few years ago.

Makes sense in terms of time on your phone, of course. I was thinking maybe it was job-related.

Nope. I do spend a lot of time on the phone (self employed, and I'm my own secretary) but not nearly that much on the average day.

Forgot to mention, I hope you have a quick recovery (well, as quick as one can recover from that kind of injury).

Appreciate it. 4-6 months until I'll be even close to normal, and could be a year until 100%.

Nobody should be making any judgement calls on battery life on day one or even day three. Those are not going to be useful stats. Just enjoy your new phone and after a week or so see where you're at.

All that said, this battery should get most people through a day. If not and you are that heavy of a user, buy a small battery pack. I rarely need it, but I keep one in my truck just in case I need to throw it in a bag or something.

OK guys, what exactly does it mean that battery is learning my patterns and then it should be better? I am clueless so it me it sounds like battery will go like: "Ok, this dude needs more juice so I will do better from now on" :D Explain it to me, please :)

20 hours and almost 6 SOT looks good to me. Thanks for this. Will like to see other results.
That's what I'm getting too, one week in, N975U1, WQHD+, AOD, battery mode Optimized, no "debloating" or package-disabling.

Give it some time and keep an eye on your usage, there are things you can tune to get battery battery performance. Some of the things I used to tweak in the Developer settings look like they may have been added to normal settings in a more basic form (like turning off some animations for better performance)

Cheers,
BR

It's not really the battery, but the OS learning your habits to run more efficiently, and this save the battery. For example, keeping RAM full is better than empty on Android. Over time, the OS will learn what apps you use the most and give them priority on staying in memory for efficient task switching, rather than a bunch of random ones you rarely use and need to be killed to open one you do use a lot.

That makes more sense, thanks!

Original Poster here. Battery life keeps improving. Very pleased. I did move screen resolution to FHD though.

Tom's guide is laughable. They do the battery test by running nothing but web pages until the battery dies. What a way to test the OS! I just came from the Max and the difference in battery life to the v Note is night and day.

Some battery usage. But this is with me staying home. Which isnt very realistic. The service is stronger in one area, less searching and the lights aren't bright so less screen brightness

Call it what you will, but they run the same test on every phone so for comparison sake it is a solid test.
