Got the phone last night, so today was my first full day with it. I work heavy construction in North Dakota so my job can take me to some place around here that are slightly ummm off the grid? Haha. Anyways the area I'm working is has little to none, and I mean ZERO for cell service. Start the day at 530, unplug phone, drive to shop, dork around, head to job site. Got in my excavator around 730, phone in my pocket. Used it very little in the morning, made a couple calls and what not. About 1130 I took the phone out and holy smokes it was already at 28%. Go to plug it in to charge it and no dice. Turns out the Chargers I had bought and used for my note 2 didn't work for the x. Phone died shortly there after. Needless to say I now have a couple different chargers so this won't happen again haha.

i am not doubting what you are saying, but that has not been my experience at all.

i leave home at around 08:00, get back at around 18:00 - 19:00 and i still have around 60% with normal use (some short calls, some browsing, etc.).

Right now at 22:00 i still have 40% left, and havent charged since 08:00 (i dont use my phone much once i get home, though).

edit: it just ocurred to me that the reason you might be losing so much juice is the poor reception in the area you are in.

Ha I thought it was a little rough but keep in mind there was NO service there... Constant switching between zero service 1x 3G and 4g (the 3G and 4g are un useable). When I had my note 2 I would be scrambling to find power by 3.

Well, with his experience, he has little to no coverage and it is hampering his battery life. It's to be expected in cases like this. When I'm at my office, all cell phones (with any carrier) get little to no signal. Because of this, my phone will drain by end of the day. If I had a signal, it would be fine. So, what I do so my phone isn't fighting signal and getting too warm, I put it in airplane mode. Not the most logical thing to do for everyone but it works out for me.

I also suffer in barren cellular wastelands. If you are able, get a booster. They make all the difference where the signal is weak.

This is by far the worst area I've worked in around here.. It's like I'm back in 2002 for cell service. And generally ND is pretty well covered

You really ought to put a Mobile Data Toggle Widget on your home screen.

If you turn off data when you're on site, and get in the habit of turning it back on maybe 10 minutes before you have a break to check your phone, you'll save a lot of battery for just a little inconvenience! In the meantime when your data is shut off you can still get calls and texts...

I do that when I travel to plants and mills that are in remote areas, it'll definitely help your battery last longer!

AutomateIt. Seriously. Make a rule that turns off the data either by location or by time. And other useful rules. My staple is to turn off data when connected to WiFi.

Question:
but if you have wifi on isn't data off, without having to turn it off?

For instance, if I run speedtest on wifi, it's not going against my vzw data anyway.

But perhaps you mean by having the app turn off data, it can save battery since the actual radio gets turned off?

Curious

Yes, that is what I mean. It turns the radio off and thus saves a bit of power and will not have to search for a signal when you are not using it anyway.
