First drop off a 4 foot bar table on to concrete..

Yeah not matter what the device is if it gets drop there always going to be a chance something going to get messed up. Not having protection is a chance you take so it's just up to the individual on what they want to do.

i just tried to type flipboard on mine and it worked. As posted earlier, there might be something wrong inside.

Im using the AC app but it still changes my letters on facebook as well. Seems to me like the keyboard screws up in 3rd party apps because i just tested typing a few things in the HTC browser and didnt have any issues.

Yeah, then I think it is the bug, not internal damage. I would relax.

I almost 100% new it was a bug, but haven't really used landscape mode since before I installed swiftkey on my evo3d. Due to one small gripe I had with it I never went to landscape so I figured I'd try going back now and then my words went all to hell

Well i have Best Buy insurance on my phone so if anything did happen id just swing by best buy the next day and tried to get a replacement or something. If it was a big scratch on the back or something i wouldve just backed up everything, dropped my phone in water on purpose, ( best buy covers it) and went and picked up a new one!

That is a disgraceful thing to do if you or a friend caused a scratch on your phone! I don't understand why people in todays world think it is perfectly ok for somebody else to pay for their own F ups?

Well hey, that's what Insurance is for! Your phone breaks and you dont have to pay $500 for a new one. If they didnt make money off insurance then they wouldn't offer it..

No, you stated you would break your phone on purpose of you got a big scratch on it. That is not what insurance is for. And if you ever wonder why insurance goes up is because of people like you who commit fraud.

There is a word for what he stated he wanted to do: "Fraud". It almost makes one wish there was a rule in the forums against advocating illegal and/or immoral activities.

Unless the laws of physics cease to exist, it would be impossible for there to be some sort of concave chip in your phone and then by the stroke of your finger they disappear...jk lol glad your phone was ok

I agree 100%

The Mobile Nations Community Rules & Guidelines clearly indicate that the discussion of illegal activities isn't permissible, though the specific wording used does seem to indicate illegal technological activity (warez, serials, intellectual property, etc.). What's more important, however, is this part:

This document acts as guidelines for both our users and moderators. We cannot imagine every circumstance and reserve the right to change these rules, move/remove/edit/close threads and posts, and warn/penalize/ban members at our discretion with or without reason at any time. [...] Please conduct yourself like a pro and we will do the same.

I, for one, am not much for illegal activities and fraud. I'm somewhat certain the rest of the moderator team has the same opinion. :p

That being said, I don't think a side-comment about an electronics retailer's easily-abused insurance policies warrants significant action. ;) I've had more than one Best Buy employee suggest to me that I purchase products with an appropriate insurance plan and return said product for store credit (equal to the original purchase price) whenever I want to get a newer version of the same product.

I'm over it :) It's obnoxious and if one of my employees were doing that, unless they were exemplary, they'd be externally promoted. I think it's more the sense of people seeking a way to fulfill their entitlement complex. Also making the distinction between illegal and immoral is probably important, but like usual, the solution is probably just, "move along".

i dropped my phone for the first time today. i was drunk at work and the phone went flying 1 foot up then 5 feet straight down onto the concrete floor. it made a really loud sound and i was sure it was gonna be bad when i picked it up but thankfully i had my otterbox commuter case on today. not a scratch on the phone. yesterday, i went without a case and it wouldve gotten destroyed if the same thing happened.

It's in the predictive text mode, ignore it and keep typing. It will get it right if you just keep on typing.

It does fix itself MOST of the time but sometimes it just completley destroys my words all to hell and doesnt fix them

Dropped mine in a bumper case today from less than 4 feet, closer to 3. Big cracked across the screen and I don't have insurance. Awesome way to start the 2 year contract. Oh well, it still works and life goes on. All you people worrying about gaps it could be worse. ;-)

One more thing, check your keyboard language settings. You may have more than one language selected. The destruction actually is a foreign word.

Otterbox, nuff said. Also goto www.worthavegroup.com. Great and cheap way to cover your phone, and you can get it today, and file a claim tomorrow for your shattered glass. No shady deals, just pure fact.

This is such a great looking smartphone. But I like it way more without scratches/marks let alone chips/cracks. So I keep it in a case. I even have a screen protector so I don't have to worry about sand giving it small scratches. Even though I can't recall ever having my display scratched I know others who have and it gives me piece of mind.

Sometimes luck is on your side.

A year or two ago I dropped my new hTc EVO 3D while texting (I'm 5',10"), an mosquito landed on my forearm, I reached over to swat it off and hit my EVO 3D. I had no case or screen protector (waiting for eBay) but when picked it up there was NO CHIP, DENT, NOT EVEN A SINGLE SCRATCH I couldn't believe it. I only dropped my phone three times, this should've been the worst/costly but my Bold 9000 fell from my lap as I got out of the car and I had a hole in my shorts my Sony Ericsson W760i fell out. Both got chipped pretty bad. :(
