I just received an email from Google providing a link to download a free SD copy of the movie Elf, not a rental. If I want the HD copy, it's $5

That's nice if you have a 5 year old. Any older than 8 and you can't really appreciate the movie's um... charm.

I disagree, in my opinion, its a modern holiday classic. To each his own. Awesome its free.

I didn't have to test anything. I now own the SD version for free. I'm OK with SD quality for a free movie I wouldn't have bought to begin with.
