From surfing the forum for a few days, I can see that you guys express mild hatred towards the i-phone in general so I need someone completely bias. I've never been into smart phones (I know, I've been living in a cave) but I think it's time I finally go mainstream. If it was the I-Phone 4G/S or whatever VS S3 I would have automatically went with the S3. However, with the i-phone 5 revealed and all should I wait a week or so and purchase that? I just want the most for my money, and I want it to last the longest (in style and technology wise) I'd hate to get the S3 and then bam S4 or something comes out. The i-phone 5 is appealing because it's the newest of its phone, and so is the S3 but I'm afraid something new might hit the market and I'll regret. Thanks!

Looking at all aspects, i-phone 5 or galaxy s3?

At the end of the day, they are both excellent phones. I was in the same situation as you about 3 months ago and went with the S3.

Here were my primary reasons:
- As a PC user, I find iTunes very clunky (slow and getting slower every day) and annoying (the way it asks for an update very week)
- I am morally opposed to Apple's insistence on locking everything down and pretending like everything they sell is the best even if it is not (eg. remember m4r? Remember when Apple claimed 128 kb was the BEST bit rate for music? Wanna buy a new cable / accessory / whatever? It's gotta be Apple brand)
- As someone who cares about the environment, I am appalled at Apple's atrocious record in the recyclability of the components of their products
- I am a tinkerer. Apple is very much take-it-leave-it. Don't like our keyboard, too bad.
- Spec by sec, the Samsung is far better value for money. I am not willing to spend a 30 - 50% markup just so I can have an Apple product.

spec by spec,SIII pulls way ahead with double the ram, not to worry SIII will be new for at least a year the best smartphone bar none. wireless sync way better than iTunes.made my choice June 21 with AT&T and LTE. CAN'T GO WRONG!

Just get humble and get the apple phone. No reason to show off with a sgs3.

Funny you say that when its the iPhone users that have the elitist attitude.

Personally i would recommend the S3 any day of the week. The features, the speed, the smoothness, the quality, it's all second to none. And Android isn't hard to get into. I was able to get familiar withthe OS when I got my first Android within 10 minutes.

Believe it or not, I know some people that just can't work with an Android phone. Even a premium one! Their phone slows down and they deem it unworthy when its because they have multiple apps running and have no idea how to turn them off. I teach them all the ins and outs till I turn blue in the face but they just don't get it! Some people just need to be spoon fed to be happy.

They should just stick with a dumbphone then. I honestly facepalmed so hard just now.

By your sig it doesn't seem like you really have the experience to say that about the GS3. It's not all that great. I like it, but iOS is far smoother and faster.

Sorry but I have to quote your FUD here. There are plenty of 3rd party accessories.

And if you're going to talk about customizing, you can do a jailbreak on iPhone which is far simpler and stabler to do than on android. Installing swiftkey is no different than doing a jailbreak and installing it. Androids default keyboard sucks and I switched to swiftkey.

Spec by spec doesn't matter, when will you people understand that. Android fanboys just like to whip their dicks out but the fact of the matter is how the experience using the device.

Apple pretending they are the best. Doesn't every company including Samsung do that. I mean seriously, stupid claim.

fair play *nods head*

Try both phones out in store and see which one u like the best. Both cost the same and have their pros and cons.

Many people with much more experience than both of us have said otherwise.

I can happily say that i just made the decision to choose Samsung Galaxy S3 over the iPhone 5 at least. I?ve loyally owned an iPhone since the first iPhone and that?s not to say that i haven?t liked what i had. I recently sold my iPhone 4 because i was planning on upgrading to the 5, but i only would consider buying an unlocked phone. Since Apple decided to only offer contract phones in the pre-order i started looking at other phones, mainly just to see what the market was like. (point being i can also wait untill the unlocked phone is on offer) I hadn?t really looked at other phones since i had my first iPhone and blindly dismissed all android phones as total crap as they actually used to be that :) (when the first iPhone came out). But after looking at the Galaxy S3 and doing alot of comparing, especially of the options in the OS i must say that i can?t wait to get my hands on the Galaxy that i ordered just earlier today.
Selling points over the iPhone are a few one i?d say my top reasons are the customizability which iPhone clearly lacks and NFC.... i mean i?ve read alot of forums (like macrumors) where users are saying that NFC dosn?t matter and it?s still to insecure... blablabla... i can actually tell you that i work for a CreditCard issuer in my country and we?re Piloting an NFC payment pilot soon and well... let?s just say that Visa & MC & Amex wouldn?t be backing that if they thought the tech was to insecure... i also love this article regarding NFC and it?s possibilities: The most practical, creative ways to use NFC with your Android device | How To - CNET

But let?s all just remember that the iPhone is still a good phone but my oppion is at least that the iPhone is perfect for those that don?t know too much about tech and don?t want to customize there products while the Android would work fine for those individuals also but it?s also perfect for those who want to give their phone some of there own ideas...
But in addition i?d also like to add that i also think the iPhone is the better looking phone... but when it comes to usability and options it?s the Samsung.

Jail breaking an iPhone makes it slower and glitchy. Not to mention you can't jailbreak iOS 6 without having it plugged into a computer 24/7. The moment it's not it's unjailbroken again.

Plus even when you jailbreak an iOS device, even then the openness can't compare to Android's. Plus Cydia is probably the most frustrating thing I've ever worked with. Ever.

Thanks :3
