I have a N20U, but I did go to the store after reading this thread and played with a normal N20.
If I had to choose between my Note 10+ and the Note 20, I would have stayed with my Note 10+ in all honesty.
The plastic back does make it feel like a mid-range device, yes, I know it's negated with a case, so not a huge issue.
Lack of SD Card is what would have killed it for me though.
Overall though, it felt like less of a Flagship and more of a Very High-End MID RANGE device. I would not have been happy with it either.
Now, the N20U, I have ZERO complaints!! None. and that's rare for me with a phone.
Is it perfect? No. Are there a few things I wish were different? Yes. Are they complaints? No, just nit-picking but would not have made an impact on my decision to buy it.
