I have a motorola droid X, I've been thinking about rooting it to Gingerbread but I'm just wondering if I root will I lose all my installed apps/app information? I.E. app log ins (I have my friends cruncy roll account on my phone, andry birds data etc)

The actual rooting will not get rid of any apps or app data on the phone. You WILL lose this data when flashing gingerbread though.... i suggest creating a nandroid backup aswell as backing up everything with titanium backup. There also apps you can use like my backup pro to backup your messages, bookmarks, and other stuff.

Personally i would either wait for gingerbread to be actually released or flash a froyo rom because, though ginger is cool, there arent a lot of options to customize on ginger. Just my 2?.

You'll lose all data when you do the data/cache wipe before flashing.

The market will remember all the apps you've downloaded and start re-installing them after you get the phone set up again.

Back up all your apps with Titanium, that way if some apps don't re-install through the Market you can do it through Titanium.
