I need some help as a complete newbie to this rooting world. Over the weekend, I rooted my Samsung Fascinate running Froyo 2.2.2. I had some problems that were documented in the "first time rooting" thread such as losing mobile data signal. So I unrooted the phone. No problem. Today, I took a stab at flashing the Gee Wiz 1.1. I used ODIN to install geewiz-1.1-08272011.tar.md5. In ODIN, the indicator said it "PASSED".

This is where it seemed to go wrong:
I booted up (Vol Up/Vol Down/Power) until the second logo came up and released all buttons. The screen was black with blue text:
android system recovery <3e>

Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML-

From another forum, I think I figured out I needed to reboot, so I selected "apply sdcard:update.zip" and pressed the HOME button. The screen showed a triangle (pivoted at an angle) with an exclamation point and the Android "person" icon. It has been on this screen for over 15 minutes.

What do I do next? Help please.

Larry

Nevermind, I figured out how to reboot. I just took out the battery and booted up to the same blue text screen and chose to "reboot".

Yes, after you flashed the custom ROM, you needed to let it load up so the custom kernel and recovery included in the ROM could overwrite the stock 3e recovery. You've should be fine now.
