I was having a few issues on my phone that a lot of people were reporting as well. I had the problem of multiple FC at various times. I have terrible GPS lock and poor reception in my home when it used to be great with my Evo 4g. I also was unable to look at individual pics from my picasa online albums through the gallery app; the screen just flickered.

I figured this might be like windows and just needed a fresh install before I returned the phone for a replacement. I downloaded the latest RUU 1.13.xxx from the development section for the 3D on XDA. I then backed up what I could from the phone and ran the RUU from my PC. The RUU is basically (from what I understand) a stock firmware image of our phones. After it was done (took less then 10 minutes) the apps all returned by themselves and I had to set the phone up again the way I liked. All of the above problems I was experiencing have gone away. I get no FC, my GPS locks almost as quick as my 4G did but still a tad slow, my reception and voice calls seem much improved, and finally I can see my online albums. The phone is much smoother as well. I say give it a try before you run to Sprint.

I might just keep this phone....love the 3D pics

Edited: Here is the link to the RUU thread
I have seen most just try a hard reset and that didn't work for me. I only got results after using this. It does wipe everything from the phone but not the SD card.

Just my 3 cents.

I am new to the land of Android - Does this require the phone to be rooted? I didn't any instructions on how to perform this update/restore.

this requires no rooting of the phone. You just need to plug your phone into your computer and make sure you have the drivers for your phone installed. You can do this by installing HTC sync. Run the RUU like any other program on Windows and then follow the prompts.

Did your problems start from first use or were they after installing certain apps? I am just wondering if there is a common app that could be avoided which is causing glitches?

My issued started on my first activation call before my phone was even fully setup. I was concerned that it my have been an hardware issue.

Edit: I did the fresh reinstall of the system tonight. So far I have not encountered any issues and everything seems to be running faster. I also did a quick run on Passmark bench marking software (with a few apps running) and ended up scoring about 5-10% higher on both CPU and overall system scores when compared with the average Evo 3D scores. I'm pretty pleased with the ease and effectiveness so far. I will post tomorrow if the problem seems resolved.
