Fixed my water damaged Note 3! I got pushed in the pool and thought it was dead... Details Inside

If you did, then you'd be "winning"....er...wenning....lol

Haha I did sell a water damaged S4 for $130 a couple months ago... which I guess if someone could fix and make some profit on it, it's a good deal for both parties.

So...this is your 2nd water damaged phone then? Hmmmm....me thinks you have a problem there! LOL

Ha, I'll see the status after this stint in the silica crystals on Wednesday. If the screen is still black, I'll list it on eBay for $200 ;)

Ok, so now, lets talk about your problem with phones and water. I'm the resident water-damaged-phone psychologist. I cater to people who frequently drop phones in water and then sell 'em on E-bay!

So tell me - how long exactly have you had this problem?
Did you have a bad childhood growing up, was there a lack of cell phones in the house?
Did you have a bad experience in your pool?
Do you think it's possible you're just "acting out" now - by wetting your phones?
Is it possible you actually enjoy this whole alcohol and rice thing?

I'm just f_cking with ya! All in jest man!

So my question to you guys is this...

1.) Keep my water damaged Note 3 and pay $200 for a new screen replacement and repair
2.) Try and sell my water damaged Note 3 and buy a like new condition Nexus 5 on Craigslist for $250

Decisions decisions

So you think the screen is kaput or doesn't look 100%.
There's a few very good phones around the 300 mark now, discounted or online. You may find the Nexus very different to operate compared to a Samsung. I would consider the Moto X or S4 if available around that price also. The Nexus looks good on paper. I will let others advise you. It may not get noticed here though. If you have the time I would start another thread asking that very question but perhaps? on another Forum, I don't know, Central Lounge, Nexus 5 or OK actually here also.
You would need to buy that one quickly, you may already have done, and sell the N3 later. Some will put you off Craigs List, like Gumtree here, but you sound smart enough!

Unlike what a girlfriends mother or your mother-in-law used to tell you - DON'T keep it in your pants next time.
(no, that wasn't very good :))

Good thing I have a screen protector on my tablet, I just spewed tea all over the place, lol.

I just tested it out and the screen is still black. I can also still see those liquid splotches behind the screen (I can even move them around if I push on the screen). They don't look to have dried that much either.

So decision now is $200 to fix the screen and risk having a water damaged phone or spend $250-$300 for a Nexus 5 or GS4. I don't really want a GS4 because I want to change things up... and the GS5 is coming out soon anyway.

I wouldn't put a dime into the water damaged phone. Move on, consider it totaled. Water and electronics just don't mix. Something else may go bad down the road.

Yes you would lose money considering the damage history of the repaired Note 3, unless you want to keep it for a long time. It sounds like you're ready to change any way. You had a go with an N3.

Very expensive and no one is doing it yet at a retail level, but it does indeed work!

I know a while back Liquipel was trying to go with Liquipel 2.0 and trying to get carriers on board to put a smaller version of their vaccum chamber into select retail stores. I think it did 2 to 4 phones at one time and the process was like 20-40 minutes long.

I inquired about it to use at my service center but they told me they only wanted to do it in carrier retail facilities.
Shame to as i have 1 corporate customer who send in 50-75 iPhones in a month for repair.
Imagine if i were able to also coat phones that come in for repair and add an additional fee for it. Sadly, Liquipel didnt see the appeal.
Im like, shoot why not, if you send in a phone for repair its a perfect time to have the procedure done.

So, Liquipel is only one pf the players in this space; there are several I saw at CES over the past few years. Because of the complexity of the application process, they probably don't see money at the retail level. I think they and all the rest of them (Zagg included) have more interest in selling the technology to the manufacturers. I believe there is one company who owns the patent for nanotechnology hydrophobic water coating in this space and all the other players are licensing from them.

You can buy a product like that yourself here -

Ultra Ever Dry - Waterproofing Coating - Industrial - Tools - Clothing

Actually this is what i was referring to.
Opportunities | Liquipel
They dont want to talk to you unless you can do 50,000 units a year. I see that number as a bit high but thats just me.
anyway, not related to the original topic. So lets move on.
