So the V20 can play flac files that can be taken advantage of with the quad DAC, is it worth having a few songs in flac? I understand that they take up a lot more space and cost more but I wouldn't mind having a few on my 64GB SD card. What is a good source to get the songs in flac format that I can buy and download from an app or download directly?

Remember, no matter what the file type, the speakers in the phone are only as good as tiny speakers. They're not going to make your car vibrate unless you connect the phone to external speakers.

Though there is a difference between FLAC and MP3 files in general you might not be able to discern the difference between high quality MP3 (320 kbs) and FLAC (1411 kpbs) depending on the type of music and the headphones or sound system you are feeding into. Low quality MP3 (128kpbs) would be much more discernable from FLAC, however the equipment you are using is still a factor.

Right but with decent headphones, the FLAC files theoretically should always sound good (as long as they are played with good hardware) for as long as the files exist. Is there a difference in quality when buying a FLAC file or a mp3 file from Amazon? From what i've read, FLAC is lostless no matter how many times you play them or move them around. Where as a mp3 will lose bits here and there over time and being transferred.

Give me a good set of headphone, and some live Dead on flac and I'm in heaven!

For purchase and download, I'd go here : https://bandcamp.com/ - http://www.hdtracks.com/. If you prefer to streaming music in HQ than go with https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...rl=http%3A%2F%2Ftidal.com%2Fus&token=Nh6qjAdM.

Also, don't bother converting mp3 to FLAC format on your term. It's not the same quality. Cheers

That's not possible....mp3 files are digital files therefore there is no loss from the original format they were created in. You can convert or compress them to a lower quality format but they never lose bits by getting old or being played over and over.

Thanks for those links. I've been using Spotify premium with max quality and spent about an hour with Tidal. Noticeable difference if is switch between the two and play the same song. Better detail and clarity with Tidal.

I've noticed with flac, even with lower quality headphones, that there is more depth to the sound. Quality headphones really do make a difference though
