Flashed first ROM...few questions

So I flashed to the AOKP build 26 and have a few questions. Before flashing I backup Nova launched and all my apps in TiB. I was able to get my homescreen back along with my most my apps when I restored everything. I noticed that a bunch of apps have a line through them in TiB and even when I restore all they don't, any reason?

I also noticed that Nova launcher is 1.02beta 1, I go to update but the market shows I have the latest version. Do I have have to uninstall and reinstall and will I keep my backup if I uninstall?

How do you change the softkey colors, I try but the color never saves.

None of my wifi passwords seem to save in my google account as well

Thanks

I don't run AOKP, so I can't answer the question about the softkeys.

Your Nova backup should be maintained if you uninstall. Mine were - I always flashed Nova, so every time I install a new ROM, I re-flash it, and then restore my settings from a backup.

The apps in Titanium backup might be system apps from your old backup. General rule with Titanium Backup is that when you restore, you should only restore user apps. Never restore system data as it could cause problems with a different ROM.

Finally, once you have your phone set up the way you like, make a Nandroid (full system backup through CWM or ROM manager). If you have a problem when you flash a different ROM, you can always restore the nandroid and be fine.

When you pick the color, click the actual box for that color before you hit save.

ahh yes that worked. Thanks

It seems most google apps have to be re downloaded, can't restore with TiB. Why is the GTalk app square and not round, custom icon?

When I go to the market Nova launcher shows as 1.0.1 as being the latest .

Also about your apps on Titanium Backup with a line though them .
The reason some of your apps have a line though them In Titanium Backup is because its reading you made of backup of that app when it was installed on your phone ,but it isn't currently installed on your Phone.Thats why those(with the line tho them) didnt restore as the others did.

that square icon is the latest version in gapps. I thought the stock version of the Nexus had that icon too but maybe it's part of the 4.04 upgrade. Can't remember.

But wouldn't all the apps I backup not be installed on the phone after a wipe? So shouldn't all the apps have a line through them?

It was circular previously...no big deal though

When you flash a ROM and sign back in to your google account, some, but not all of your apps will usually auto restore (which ones do/don't is a mystical process that no one really understands). After the auto restore is finished (your download arrow in your notifications bar stops flashing) you can launch titanium, go to menu, batch, and scroll down to the section called Restore, then select restore missing apps with data. That brings up a new screen that shows all the apps you've backed up but are not currently installed. Scroll through them and uncheck any that you no longer use, then hit run the batch operation.

This.

Also, and this is very anal/OCD, but when you restore data with Titanium use caution. That's data that was compiled on a "different" rom and might cause FC's or conflicts of some sort. Is it likely to happen? Probably not. But if you start having problems immediately after reloading those old apps w/ old data, you know where to start troubleshooting.

Thanks for the info guys.

Must say, been playing around now for a few days with AOKP...so awesome. I feel like the customization is just endless
