Flashing green light

Green light above the the word "Sprint" in the upper right -- sometimes it blinks, sometimes it doesn't. What does it indicate?

Haven't been able to determine any pattern, like unread e-mails or something like that.

Here is a question though -- how long should it flash to notify you of an event (msg, missed call, etc)? Mine seems to flash for about 15 mins and then stops. Is that normal/expected? I can find no mention of it in the manual.

Like sb65, my light stops flashing after awhile. I haven't timed it, though. Drives me CRAZY. Coming from a long line of WM phones (which had their own share of notification LED issues) I'm disappointed that Android doesn't keep the LED blinking all the time until I check it (which is often more than a few minutes).

but if it keeps flashing until you read it, it would drain your battery a whole lot faster. like your in a meeting or sleeping without charging it

An LED blink takes such a tiny amount of battery power, I assume this to be a software problem rather than a battery saving feature. I've had other phones that blinked properly until woken up.

When speaking with an HTC support rep about a different issue, I mentioned the fact that the flashing yellow/green light that indicates a missed even only flashed for 5 or 10 minutes and then stops. He said he thinks this is an Android issue and agrees that it makes zero sense for it to stop flashing since that means you may miss messages/texts etc. He is going to report it as an issue and hopefully have it addressed in a future software version push.

Mine has been flashing for about 2 hours and I have no clue why, I have checked text / emails etc but can't locate what I missed

Wow now I feel stupid or stupider ( is that really a word )
my daughter just called and she told me she called about 2 and a half hours ago and wondered where I was, well I am not sure how I missed it but I never seen anything that said MISSED CALL etc but in the logs I seen her call I deleted it and the green light stopped flashing.

Now my question is this , do I have any way of showing a missed call on the screen when this happens ?

You should have a missed call message on your lock screen and a icon in your notification bar.

I just called myself , missed the call let it go into standby then checked
there is nothing to show the missed call on the lock screen

BTW I am using ( trying to anyways ) a Droid 2 on VZW.

TheMiz51, if you don't see it in the lock screen it should be at least in the notification bar. It should look like an arrow bouncing off of a phone.

Thanks so much I seen it up there and tried to click on it then noticed I could drag it down and there it was.

I am new at droids so every day is a day I learn something else.
