Flashing kernels using Kernel Manager

Just downloaded Kernel manager and let's say I wanna try using Bamf's 4.4.2 kernel, do I just hit the "Download + Flash Kernel" button or do I still have to do all that nandroid backup stuff?
Been wanting to pull the trigger but not sure yet so I wanna ask u guys first to be safe. Hehe
