As of the time when I type this, flossy Carter is doing a live YouTube chat. He just stated that he is not buying into all of the hype regarding the battery and the recall, and that he is still rocking his Note 7. He said he is also Still rocking something that Apple recalled several years ago.

Then Flossy Carter is an ***** who should stick to reviewing phones instead of offering product safety advice.

Well to be fair, recalls aren't always about safety, mostly it's a way of absolving one's self from liability and/or litigation once an issue has been made public.

Everything powered by a lithium ion battery can explode under the right conditions. It has happened before and it will happen again.

We don't have design controls that can circumvent physics. All we can do is predict use cases and try to look for their relevant failure modes.

Good on Samsung for playing it safe and looking into it instead of rationalizing it away.

Advising others to ignore it because (insert reason here) automatically become an issue of safety, though.

And yes, Excellent work by Samsung for handling a situation that could happen to any company selling mass produced things very well.

Did he actually tell others to ignore the recall, or did he simply state he wasn't worried about it with his personal Note 7? If he's just saying that he personally isn't taking his device in and he personally isn't worried about it that's fine and equivalent to all of the people that have been posting on these forums stating the same. Now if he is actually advising people not to deal with or listen to Samsung about the recall and saying that no one needs to take their devices in to be exchanged because they are safe, that's a whole 'nother problem.

Re: Glossy Carter Not Buying into Recall Hype

He's not giving advice, it's his own opinion. Are people not allowed to have opinions on the Internet?
Bingo. And I love this guy. He's a no nonsense no BS tech guy. He's just giving opinions.

And I will return mine for a new one once the dust settles. Verizon giving people until 30th. I'm going to wait until they have replacements and get one. Was already told by IT they will send it directly to me and give me shipping labels to send this one back to Verizon.

I have 2 wireless charger and one will charger. All official Samsung.

The only advice he gave was that, if you're nervous about it but want to keep it, then just make sure you don't use the fast charger overnight and that you only use correct cables.

You're totally right. He never advised others to ignore it, he said he was not buying into the hype, but if you're nervous about it, don't use the fast charger or charges unsupervised overnight.

Re: Glossy Carter Not Buying into Recall Hype

He's right. I too am not worried. It seems this is mostly affecting Notes internationally. However though as I said before I would personally jump all over the opportunity to get a replacement one when the stock comes in. Reason being is because of resale and trade in value. The old Note 7 might not have any value.

So why not get a new Note 7 if it isn't costing you anything and you are able to keep the old Note 7 until the new one arrives? You're not losing anything except the time it takes to pop in the SIM card and then use Samsung switch.

I'm 95 percent sure I'm doing the same thing. Unless the V20 blows everything out of the water. Only reason I'd give v20 a shot is because of the reputation this might give Samsung. I mostly likely am sticking with the Note.

So I've been using a fast charger i bought on Amazon that received 4.5 stars since I got this. Left it on overnight and it has been fine. I grab it in the AM and it's barely warm.

Every opinion can influence. Just because he's hasn't outright said "ignore Samsung" (did he? I don't know. He isn't in my circle of reviews so I don't watch his stuff.) doesn't mean people are going to take his opinion and ignore a safety recall.

If you do it in a corporate store - if they're participating - Sammy will give you a $25.00 gift card per this.

But the issue is some have caught on fire not charging and Samsung said it was the battery, not the charger.

Samsung, the people that made it are spending a fortune to replace devices. That should speak volumes.
