Flossy Carter Review Pixel 2 XL

I like Flossy’s style but I tend to notice that he’s also not too understanding on tech.

One of the things he didn’t like in the 2 XL was no wireless charging. No biggie but you can’t exactly put wireless charging on a metal back. He also mentioned no portrait mode on the V30 even though the wider focal length on the secondary camera makes it much harder to get depth info

It could have been done with a metal back but would have cost more. The polymer coating might be thick enough (or could be applied thick enough) to embed the wireless coil outside of the metal back and underneath the coating. Maybe next year.

Too ghetto for me. His reviews are sloppy and often incorrect.

The "ghetto" as you put it is part of his charm! He comes off like more of a regular guy. I like it myself. I don't always agree with him, BUT I generally like his review videos. :)

I'm not sure his videos are aimed at us android mega fans, they're more for your casual YouTube viewer who's interested in tech. I think his ability to sing android praises can only be good for our platform.

He knows he ain't the most clued up guy when it comes to specs and knowing every little detail and thats part of his charm, but he does know a lot.

He's a cool dude but I really don't take his reviews too too seriously. He's mostly a Samsung guy.

While he does prefer Samsung because of the features they offer, he doesn't hesitate to call them out on their BS. Quite often he says Samsung lags and stutters.

I like him a lot. So different than anyone else.

Same here. Other reviewers are so cookie cutter. I remember watching reviewers sugar coat the performance of the LG V30's front camera while he said it was trash. I had an LG V30 and what do you know, the front camera is trash for an $800 flagship.

I'm testing out a V30 for 2 weeks and it's not that bad, besides its just a selfie cam

Love his reviews no bull just a guy reviewing a device not scripted not edited.

But he said he wouldn't pay $1,000 for it. So...how is that a major major major go?

He contradicts himself a lot.

He buys all the phones he reviews. They are not just review devices. He just like feels, like a lot of us do that these flagship phone prices are too high. There are 250-450$ phones that are just as good or almost as good as any "flagship"

I could watch his reviews all day. I don't always agree with his opinions, though I do agree with a fair amount on most phones. I just love his no-BS reviews. They are a refreshing change from what you normally see.

He buys all the phones he reviews.

I somehow doubt that. He said he wouldn't pay more than $750, $800 for the Pixel 2 XL.

So either he buys all his phones or he doesn't. Either way, he shouldn't say he'd never buy the phone then if he actually, you know, purchased it.

He says he buys the phones then reviews it, then says what he's willing to pay for the phone once he already has reviewed it. Basically it's perceived value.

Besides it's not exactly his own personal money when you consider that he's earning from reviews. It's basically 'investment'. He means if he was buying for himself, he'd only be willing to pay 'this' much.

yeah I watch his reviews as comedy, It's like a friend or family member bragging or complaining about something they bought lol

His was the only review that mentioned the lack of a notification LED. That's such a basic feature, can't live without it, I was honestly shocked to see that missing from google's flagship device. In addition to the well-documented issues with the XL's screen this phone is a no-go for me. There's no way I can accept a subpar display on a 1k device. No thanks.

FYI this flagship device does indeed have a notification led.

Well document screen issues that are expected and normal on a $1000 in fact $1250 device according to Apple....right?

Fail much?

It has a Notification LED, Flossy just didn't realize it.
