FM tuner?

This is just one more thing that I can't figure out why it's not included in ALL modern day phones. I mean... it should be freaking standard.

The only cellphones that I owned that had it required the use of wired headphones or buds because the wire functions as the antenna.. Some carriers also restrict the feature.

FM stations that I listen to have an Internet feed on their website that is usually more reliable than FM over-the-air.

I think the idea here is the ability to get FM radio if there is no internet connection.

I'm not sure who has what idea but FM radio on a device is problematic in the sense that it's not always supported by the carrier or enabled in every device radio. It also requires a wired listening device to utilize the wire as an antenna. Keep in mind I have no issue with those that desire the FM radio and wish it was a feature that was more readily available but it just isn't because there's more than one factor going on behind the scenes. It's also not a feature that hits everyone with the same value.

Are there any phones with an FM tuner? My old mp3 player has one through the earphones but never used it

When I had it in a prior phone a few years ago, I forget which one but it was an Android, it was great to go to football and baseball games and listen to the broadcast of the game in large stadiums where nobody could get enough bandwidth to send a simple text. That came in handy.

As a safety measure it should come standard on every phone, that is my opinion.

The entire FM issue including all of the talking points I'm seeing here has been brought up in every phone thread for every phone that I've owned and many of those that I haven't. It's another one of those features that would be nice to include for those that want to use but it's just not going to happen across the board.

I had it on one phone and never used it. I am happy not to have it on my phone. These days I am not even sure why FM radio still exists.

There are millions of people that use FM radio and digital TV on their phones. It's the best way to enjoy some contents without unlimited data or offline subscription. As I said before, these features are incredibly popular in some markets and I can't see them going away so soon.

Moto, Samsung, LG ... Mostly midrange models, it could take me a while making a list :)

I have had a Moto turbo and Droid max for the last 4 years . No FM Radio. The last Moto phone I had that did have FM radio was 6 years ago .

I remember reading that Verizon disabled the FM radio in most of their phones, even when the international version had it enabled. IIRC the hardware was there, but disabled, and on some occasions devs managed a workaround to enable it.
