On my Note 4 with Android 4.4.4, I've created folders and move apps into them. Couple of questions; can I change the look of the folders and say if I have 6 apps in a folder, but decide I no longer want them in the folder, how do I remove the and get rid of the folder?

The look of the folders depends on the launcher you're using. Some let you change the look, some don't. I don't think TouchWiz (the default Samsung launcher) does. (I never use it - Nova Launcher is one of the first things I put on a new phone.)

For the second point, drag the apps out of the folder (the same way you'd drag any app anywhere). When the folder is empty, long-pressing it should bring up a menu with Delete on it.
