for some reason folks insist on using mac crap. for alot of the stuff, like usb mass storage you need a pc. i dont know how much boot camp costs but this a link to microsoft tech net. the personal subscription runs $199. it gets you a one year subscription to every microsoft product. the license key is good forever, even after the sub expires.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/buy.aspx

this a link to a promo for a $50 discount.

New TechNet Subscription 28% discount with promo code TNITE06 - Keith Combs' Blahg - Site Home - TechNet Blogs

so for $150 you can get win 7 ultimate and every other microsoft product. win 7 oem runs 250 by its self. hope this helps some of ya.

Bootcamp is a free utility built into the latest versions of OS X.

And I can still use USB mass storage on my Mac :)

Its funny...I prefer OS X over Windows/Microsoft. But android over iOS

I just don't have very strong feelings...I don't understand how anyone can? They're both good.

I got my Mac in the Vista days but I'll certainly consider a Windows 7 box.

Yep I sure miss the virus's and the blue screen of death lol. Jobs is no angel but I think Gates is just as bad or worse so at that point I guess you pick which os you prefer. for me its OS X and android....Linus has come a long way since the old Linux .99 days.

I prefer a Mac laptop over any PC laptop right now. The touchpad makes navigating so fluid and fast. Not to mention no viral or malware attacks. I still rock Windows when I need to though (gaming, production, ODINing my Fascinate).

I choose my MBP for the same reason I choose the Fascinate: it's freaking gorgeous. Thanks for the tip though. Those subs are definitely a great way to go.

in 10 years of computer use i have had:

blue screens: 2 (1. a lightning strike took out my nic 2. a lightning strike took out my video card. i live in fl, stupid lightning.)

viruses: 5 (it may not surprise anyone to find out that infected myself, im a cable guy and i work on computers on the side, so i needed to experiment.)

i have never gotten a virus i didnt give myself, i have never gotten a blue screen God didnt give me. i had 0 problems out of vista, i started running it while it was still in beta, same with 7. vista was good. 7, well seven is the best OS on any platform, hands down.

anyway, it was my understanding that windows was nessicarry for some things. i was simply trying to help folks out, after its steve i hate, not everyone else.

What the????
Does this have anything to do with the Samsung Fascinate?

Yeah, none of us can mount our storage cards anymore because it broke as of DL09. I think he's just suggesting a workaround for us.

That said, unmounting it and sticking it in a USB reader is a lot more efficient :p

yes. mac users have a more difficult time with connecting thier phone, and cant use odin. windows is expensive. just trying to offer a cheaper route. but thanks for the rude coment.

In all seriousness -- Download and burn a bootable Linux live CD or USB stick.

Boot with it
Mount real HDD
Plug in phone
do whatever you want.

Interestingly, I'm able to mount my SD card on my iMac, even with SC 2.4. The wife has a PC, but between her and the kids, I never get a chance to use it. I did all the ODIN stuff @ work.

DL09 killed my USB mounting on Mac. Once I installed the first Froyo leak I gained it back. Even til now with EB01 SC 2.4 I can still mount on my MBP. Strange that it still down't work for you Cory.
