For some reason, not super excited on the new Nexus 4

same here dude. for unlimited minutes, texts, AND true unlimited 4G for $69.99, you'd be crazy not to get the LG nexus 4 on tmobile. i'm in the same boat, mytouch4g contract expires november 3rd. you might want to flash toasted marshmallow onto your mytouch, it's jelly bean, smooth like butter. but good taste, great minds... :)

I have the Galaxy Nexus, and never loved the screen, too dark, sucks in sunlight, and gets oily way too easily. I also have the international One X, running CM10, and it is way ing better. The One X display blows the Galaxy Nexus out of the water, and the battery life from the newest CM10 Nightly's on my One X, now surpasses my Galaxy Nexus, by a good 1/3rd on same use. The standby battery life on the international One X, is way better than my Verizon Nexus.

Saying all of that, if this new LG Nexus 4, is closer and better to the One X over the Galaxy Nexus, then Google have sold me. I like the LCD screen technology better than pentile. And the hardware in the new LG Nexus is a massive upgrade over the G Nex too. And battery life just has to be better, hard to be worse than the Verizon Galaxy Nexus battery, which blows.

I returned my Galaxy Nexus for the reasons you stated above. I couldn't stand the screen when compared to an iPhone or a HTC One X. Also, the build quality left much to be desired. I am very excited about this LG Nexus for the screen alone. Early reviews of the LG Optimus G say the screen is on par with the iPhone and HTC One X.

I am not seeing any downsides to getting this Nexus. I am concerned about buying the unlocked version and then getting insurance. What insurance would you all suggest for an unlocked phone?? Thanks.

Squaretrade.....Never used them but roughly $99 for 2 years of protection during normal coupon code Tuesdays and many ppl have good things to say about them.

Thanks. I have a friend that uses ProtectCell.com - Beyond insurance, complete protection for your cell phone and wireless lifestyle.

They are $79 for two years. 50 replacement for the first time then it goes up after that.

I don't want to hijack this thread but for me it is very important to have insurance on this new LG Nexus!

No doubt, I never protect my phones with insurance since I flip flop so much and I baby my phones and generally if a phone is going to break you can replace it with a used later for less than you would after paying for insurance. I hate paying for what ifs.

But, an all glass phone may have changed my mind on that. Has your buddy ever had to file a claim with that coverage? I know squaretrade has a good rep and I've never personally heard of protectcell. Nothing worse than paying for something that is limited and/or impossible to retrieve the claim when something bad happens.

Is anyone else bummed about the LG Nexus NOT having a curved display? I am, though I still think that the LG Nexus is a great phone and worth getting/upgrading to. I won't be upgrading until next year, when I'm eligible to upgrade, and I can't wait to see what the Nexus('s) have in store then!

Yep he replaced his Galaxy Nexus. It was pretty painless. They have local authorized dealers too.

It's a non issue for me. I prefer flat screens, but the Galaxy Nexus is so so so slight that I forget it's curved. My ideal phone design would have a flat back and flat front, so I'm pretty happy with the LG Nexus 4.

Not bad....prices seem decent but it looks like they require the phone to be locked to a carrier. At least I couldn't find the option for the Unlocked GN, maybe I was missing it.

Its nice they cover water dmg though, some places won't do that.

When my contract with verizon is up early next year, I'm thinking of selling my gnex and picking this up and going with value/prepaid plans. As well as being able to use my phone when I travel abroad. My biggest problems are the non-removable battery and losing my grandfathered unlimited data with vzw.

thanks for the squaretrade tip....I always had coverage through vzw etc, but its damn expensive, especially the deductibles! If the rumour of $399 via the play store is true, I will buy the new LG, but I like the galaxy nexus as is, or put another way; outside of the battery, no complaints. ergo more than $399 it isnt worth the upgrade. btw, on another site i saw pics of the back of an lg that was cracked.....all that 'glass' is worrisome

Yea, I'm now on a postpaid plan again and the price is $9 a month with a $150 deductible. Not worth it imo. It would be $216 ish after 2 years of nothing happening compared to $99 or so through one of the online places. I believe if you sell the phone or give it away you can transfer it also....Once you stop paying for the carrier plan it drops off right away.

Other thing that seems fairly positive is if they can't replace your device they cut you a check for what you paid for it. So if you break it a year later and they cut you a check for $550 that you may pay for something brand new and Google starts selling them for $350 than you can get some money back.

Wow, didnt think about the locked part. His is the Verizon model. Good point.

I am okay with it. When I had the GNex the curve was barely noticeable.

Not being rude. So please do not take this offensively, but just wait until device is released. This has all been a rumor. There has to be something Google is hiding up their sleeves maybe its hardware maybe its software or maybe its nothing. But just wait, if it doesnt excite you (or me since I own the Gnex as well) then we probably wont buy it. But because Google is open we still have plenty of options :--)

For everyone saying the phone should not be more than $399 or its not worth it.... DO you realize this is a Qualcomm S4 quad core processor with the new dreno CPU? Besides the Optimus G this is the WORLDS first with LTE....and you guys say its too much for a unlocked device? Any where else the price would be close to $900. I know this is google and we want the best price but COMEON they need money too like any other company....Sorry just needed to inform you guys of this.

Unlocked GS3...4-5 months old hardware

I must be blind because I see nobody mentioning price other than the person who said if its $399 its worth a buy. The rumors are of that price, not that the phone isn't worth more.

This is also not supposed to have LTE and there are lots of phones with LTE, so how is this a WORLDS first?

Google opened up that can of worms by offering the GN for $399....I think ppl want to expect that price now. I wouldn't be surprised if its more but its a must buy at that price imo.

No I stated this was the worlds first Qualcomm Quadcore phone with LTE opposite the Optimus G. I believe the Galaxy note 2 is the only other phone in th world to have both quadcore and LTE.
I wasnt stating that everyone was talking about the price being too much but what I was stated is if anyone is thinking this, I wanted to present facts and evidence as to justify a higher price point. I also agree that it would be a must buy at that price but I am just getting my hopes up for it and dont want everyone not to buy this device because it doesnt sell cheap enough for them. Also remember the GNex was released on the play store at $399 after like what, 6 months? I just wat to be realistic. But to each his own, with Google anything is possible :-)

Guess I was confused by the question mark. :)

I think the price will depend mostly on Google's plans to release this and who their target market is after. Samsung is a big name and can afford to make the Note 2 expensive since they have huge brand recognition and are fairly good at advertising. I'm not so sure Google has that luxury judging from the adoption of their previous devices. I don't rly see it at $399 but I'd be surprised if they put it higher than $550. Assuming this will be a play store sold device.

If LG N4 is not $400 direct from the play store eventually will be. Depending how long it takes Google to drop the price then I might just wait to see what's coming out next.
