For those with button backlight bleed

Here are the pics I sent to HTC. I told them the camera doesn't pickup the backlight bleed well. It's much stronger in person.

Why are you concerned about being within a "30 day window"? The phone has a 1 year factory warranty.

Would you want to be without your phone for 2 or 3 weeks? Factory warranties are great but you have to send your phone in, during the 30 days you can just go exchange your phone for a new one, assuming you can find one in stock.

UPDATE: I got another call from HTC, this time from a manager. This time, they offered to replace my device with a brand new one. So they're sending me out a new phone, which is going to arrive tomorrow and I'll be sending them my unit.

I was pleasantly surprised that they're taking the issue VERY seriously now. They even paid for overnight shipping to and from me. I'm sure glad I was polite in bringing my issue up to them.

Of course now I can't return my unit to Radio Shack since it's a different phone, but oh well.

nahpungnome, what did you say to HTC that prompted them to call you back. I tried speaking to a rep and they are telling me to go through sprint even though I already have numerous times. I asked to speak to a manager but I was connected to a supervisor who said she was the highest person I could talk to. They both weren't able to do anything for me. I've already taken my phone to the sprint store where I was told that it's "normal". When I threatened to just return it and buy a new one they told me I would have to pay a restocking fee.

I've never needed to do this with Sprint (and my current Pre was my fourth one). All were replaced via Sprint stores, without any extra insurance.

a friend of mine has replaced his nexus one with HTC warranty and they overnighted it to him.

I took my EVO to the Sprint store today to exchange it. My EVO has very bad backlight bleed. i compared it with two demo units at 2 different stores ant there was no comparison. Mine was like 4 times worse. The first store told me there was a waiting list and that they had to work through that list first before I could get mine exchanged. I was not too happy about this.

The second store(the store I originally purchased from) said they didn't have any and would try to repair it first. I wasn't happy about this either being that the phone is two weeks old and I paid FULL retail for it. It just doesn't seem like a new phone anymore when someone has to work on it. Anyway - I let them take it to the back and come back an hour later. The lady hands me the phone and said they put a new screen on it. Well - I could still see the backlight bleed but it was not nearly as bad as before but not as good as the display model. i told her I still wasn't happy with it and she said she would call me when they got new ones in and I could exchange it. Also they appeared to have installed a screen protector(more on this later).

After getting home(an hour drive) I noticed the battery cover wouldn't snap down in one corner. I pulled it off and notice the screw on the corner wasn't in all the way. Something just didn't seem right about the phone. I pulled the battery and looked at the serial number and MEID numbers. NONE of them matched my original box ----WTF---. I did a ##786 and the numbers there matched my original box. So - - - it seems that they tried to pull a fast one on me. I've got someone elses phone. They had to have cloned EVERYTHING off my old phone to this one. I thought they may have just swapped housings but the tag with all of the numbers is attached to the main board. Oh - and the screen protector had scratches on it. I was only looking for backlight bleed in the store and didn't notice this. Needless to say I'm furious. Guess I'll just have to wait for them to get more in stock :(

I would go back now and raise a little hell. That is absurd.

I would but it's an hour drive. I've already made the trip 4 times. Once to get the phone(system was down), again to get phone, last night to swap out the phone at the original store(said it would be an hour - didn't have time to wait) and again today to 2 stores to swap out. It wouldn't do any good anyway since they don't have any new ones in stock. I just can't believe they did something like this. Guess I'll raise a little hell when I pick up the new one. Just wished I noticed this before I left the store.

The light bleed on my phone has been getting progressively worse although I haven't yet taken it back to RS. Update us on how everything goes mlr_90!

I was also contacted. Didn't get to speak to them because of work but I did update my ticket and send them a pic. They have replied saying they will get back in touch with me.

I too got this voicemail. I wonder what's going to happen.
