Ok, I'm really sorry, but I absolutely could not think of a succinct way to put problem for the title. It has also made searching for other threads on the topic unsuccessful, so I apologize if this is a horrible newb question that's been answered a million times.
I'm new to Android and I really like it so far, but I can't stand how some apps "remember" where I was when I go back to my home screen. Nine times out of ten, if I hit the Home button after using an app, it's because I'm done with it and the next time I use it, I want it to open to the default screen and not the last screen I was on.
For example, I get an email. I open Gmail, and then open the email, read it, and hit the home button when I'm done. Then I get another email later on - when I open Gmail, it's still at the first email and I have to hit the Back button to get to the Inbox before I can open the email and read it. What I want is Gmail to open to the Inbox from the home screen every time.
From what I gather, I guess it's because once Android opens an app, it hybernates it rather than closing it when you go back to the home screen. But that extra button press is really annoying!
Is there any way I can get at least my email apps to behave this way?
Maybe I can make a separate icon for the Inbox and just use that?
I have an Optimus S running Android 2.2, by the way.
Thanks in advance!
