Android Central Question

Ever since the latest Android update, my phone will require me to enter my passcode to unlock my phone, instead of allowing me to use biometrics. This happens every day or so, even if I have used the biometrics just minutes before. I have the fingerprint and face recognition as my unlock options. Is this a supposed "security upgrade" included in the last update? If so, I would not call it an upgrade, but an annoyance. The whole point of using biometrics is so I do not have to use the passcode. This did not happen before the OS upgrade to Oreo 8.0.

Yes, it's a security feature. It will ask you for your password (just as it does when you first boot up the phone) 'randomly' (in theory it's when the phone 'thinks' it might not be you who picked up the phone, however that works) even if you are using fingerprint/iris. For me it seems to happen a lot right after I disconnect from a Smart Lock device/location like my car's stereo.

Hi,
My Face recognition only works right after i set it up. If i try again later it doesn't work at all. Is there anything i can try to fix it aside from restarting, registering again or a full reset?
i know this is an old thread but i didn't want to create a new one
