Fore shutdown/restart the phone besides removing battery?

Hi guys,

Just wondering is there a way to force shutdown or force restart galaxy nexus without removing battery?

I've just run into this a moment ago. The touch screen stopped working and i couldn't get it to do anything. I tried holding down the side button couple sec, and the options to shut down the phone did pop up, however since touch screen stopped working I couldn't get my phone to shut down. Eventually i removed/reinserted the battery and after rebooting the phone was fine again. But since that requires taking the phone out of its case it's a little bit of a hassle.

So just wondering if there's an easier way to force restart when something like this happens again. (hopefully not again but it's hard to say )

I'm wondering too...I had to pull the battery yesterday when it wouldn't power up, and with the flimsy plastic backing, I'd hate to do that too often. (Although that is one reason why I didn't buy a Razr!)

Quick boot works well to restart the phone. I think you need to be rooted to use it

Try Fast Reboot by Great Bytes Software (doesn't require root)

just installed quickboot and put the "reboot" widget on one of my screens, this is very nice! it does require root.
