Forgotten private mode pattern

[Android Central Question]

I have read that if you forgotten your private mode pattern, it will ask you to key in pin but when I tried it doesn't ask me to key in pin. Instead I have to wait for 60minutes for the next try for pattern, if I am wrong again for the next pattern, I had to wait for another 60minutes. It has given me lots of trouble as I have saved many important files in it. Hope you can help me with it
