Formatting microSD using FAT32

Hello,

My Transcend 32GB microSD became corrupted and I've formatted it FAT32 while the card was in my Laptop's card reader. When I put it back in the phone and turned it on, it said I had to format the card, which I did, and it's now working in the phone.

My question is: by formatting with the card in the phone, did it revert back to the exFAT or would it still be FAT32? If it reverts back, do I format it via my PC with the phone connected?

I think the default format is FAT32--I don't think there are any phones that will format into exFAT, but I'm not an expert on this.
