Formatting SD Card

Are there any precautions that should be taken prior to formatting an SD card in the Epic?

I'm running rooted 2.2, so I know I'll have to run Titanium Backup and place a copy of the backup file elsewhere until after. But are there any other files I need to copy too?

I'm doing this because various apps I've tried in the past have left folders behind, some named after the app, some after the developer, and some, well, I don't know. But I wanna clean things up a bit.

Thanks.

What I would do is take everything off the SD card and put it on my PC so I can sort through it there. Of course, I don't know what all you have on your SD card, but mine for example, has nandroid backups, ROMs, ringtone, notification, and alarm folders, music. That sort of stuff. Don't forget photos and the like too. That's why I personally would just copy everything to the PC and sort through it there. Just the extra cautious one in that area. It would suck discovering that you forgot to pull something off the SD card and formatted it. Even though it's possible to recover the data after a format, there's less of a chance of the data being fully usable.

Reformatting is not necessary for what your doing. I would probably just delete any odd folder you can using astro.

But if you do find it simpler to sort through on the computer (ie: saving pics .JPEG and apps that you downloaded from 3rd parties to install .apk) then I would reformat since you'd have an SD card with either no info or a card with backed up data

I've got everything synced with wifi DoubleTwist, but I think it would be wise to remove ringtones, photos/videos, etc also. I'm not too concerned with the music side of it since I KNOW I still have all of that in DoubleTwist.

I have more concerns over deleting a needed folder, thinking it wasn't needed. But I guess I can do it, and if I got any issues, use Titanium Backup to put it back on.....

Thanks guys!
