Android Central Question

I am trying to connect my Fossil Q Explorist Watch with the android wear app on my Google Pixel phone. My phone got updated to Oreo 8.1 and my watch is running 8.0. It gets paired, but then stops connecting and states " There is an issue updating your watch. Disconnect and factory reset the watch". Tried doing that many times, but it isnt working. Please help.

After you have factory reset. Try this which I had to do in order to even get it set up at all on my Samsung Note 8. This comes from Fossil Support:

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on needless to say.
Location services been turned on as well.
Your phone should have good network connection, strong and stable WiFi connection is recommended.
Go to phone settings and choose Apps/Application Manager, find the Android Wear app and click into it. Choose the option for Storage and choose "Clear Cache"
Go back one time and choose the permissions, make sure the location option is enabled
Go back to the app settings, now click on "Force Stop"
After we fully close the app, please try to reboot your phone then open up the app. Choose the option to Pair With A New Device, the app will ask you "Have a watch, set it up"

After I did this, it resolved, after clearing cache, forgetting and re-paring. Took about 45 mins after it paired to complete. Good Luck

I have a Fossil Q Explorist 2343 and a new Pixel 4xl. I'm having a hell of a time getting my phone to sync through Bluetooth to my watch. I've followed all the instructions above and none of it seemed to work. Any other recommendations? Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! I assume you have the Wear OS app installed on your phone, correct? And your watch is fully up to date in terms of its system and also its Wear OS app? If you select the watch in Wear OS app on your phone, does it say it's Connected, or is it still Trying To Connect?
