This is my first time using this in screen finger print scanner. Can someone please tell me how to get it to actually work?

I have been able to get one fingerprint to scan fully. I get some progress on the others and then it says that I am not putting my finger on it fully

It's recommend that you scan the same finger twice. So 2 fingers, 4 scans. Just takes practice to get it right.

I'm trying to scan in 4 fingers. I have to go to yet another att store just to my sim card, so it will have to wait until later.

Make sure you complete one finger before going to another. I think there is a maximum of 3 fingers you can save

By who? Are there any definitive test results? Last time I tried that was with a Sony Z5C and it slowed the reader down a lot and had less success unlocking. Anecdotally I've had far less issues work only one scan per finger.

A couple of tips I picked up when setting up the finger prints are.

When setting up take x3 scans with each thumb and then rotate the phone around when taking further prints of each thumb so your phone can read both thumbs from the same finger print scan. Scan your prints as you would normally hold the phone.

Also using two fingers when setting up one fingerprint works pretty well.

Go into Settings . Biometrics and Security. Biometrics Preferences . Turn Off Screen Transition Effect.

Then go into Settings and search for Optomise Battery Usage. Tap in Optimise Battey Usage tap to show All and scroll down to com.samsung.android.biom and toggle Off

For me this improved the fps on my Note 10+ 5G which I appreciate is a different model to yours but should be the same outcome- hopefully.

I also have dry skin on my fingers and so find it sometimes beneficial to moisten my fingertip before unlocking the phone.

Once you're go to settings & select the FPS, it'll come up on the screen for you to begin scanning. Then press the chosen finger over the sample FP on the screen and HOLD it there until you see the % number move up slightly, then move your finger slightly to adjust the angle waiting for the % to adjust up further..Repeat this til it's 100% complete & then that FP is done &registered. You can register the same finger a second time (which I do, because you want the FPS to accept your FP from whatever angle your finger happens to touch the screen to unlock it from.) Once your 1st your finger is scanned once/twice whatever you prefer, you can do the same with up to two additional fingers by selecting add another FP at bottom of screen. It'll allow a max of four fingers to be registered. Remember, the screen will guide you as to what you need to do..ex: press harder, adjust position etc...hope it helps...

When Samsung first released the In screen FPS, that was a common theory on how to improve the scanning. I have not seen that method speed up or slow down the reader.
