After having endless problems with the fingerprint sensor since I bought the N20U, it now works, well, flawlessly. Fast, smooth, reliable. I'm so pleased. This is since One UI 3.1
Ironically, I've read some people have had issues with the FPS since 3.1, so this is completely unexpected.
It was the one bugbear I had with this phone, so now the N20U is the ultimate device all round for me. Just amazing.

I have to say this seems to be the case with mine as well, it seems to have got better with the update and I'm using a Whitestone Dome screen protector as well

Excellent. I've also noticed that registering prints is a lot faster and I don't get the 'push harder' prompt. Thank goodness because it can't be good to be applying pressure like that to the screen. And there's hardly any pressure needed when unlocking either. Just a gentle touch and open sesame.
Seems they've improved the whole process massively. Well done, Samsung.

So glad it's working well for you! There's nothing more frustrating than not having your fingerprint reader work efficiently for you.

Like some others with Samsung products, I too had some issues with mine since the latest update, but when I deleted and re-enrolled my fingerprints, everything is so much better now!

Crazy how much we rely on these things and then when they don't work, we realize how much we needed them in the first place!

Well this is encouraging. I haven't updated yet, but this might convince me it's time.
:)

Seems that the Finger print on Android 11 OneUI 3.1 works even better then before, even tho i didn't have issues with it , Also my AT&T Note20 Ultra 5G 512GB does have Dome glass protector and it definitely is much improved, Very fast works for me flawlessly, Great job Samsung

I don't know if its update related or not but I redid my FPS a few weeks ago and it works significantly better than it had.

I am using 3.1 on Verizon Unlocked but still have the Feb security patch.
I hope mine improves with the March update

Let us know what happens if and when you decide to update! :)

Well winter storm Xylia is heading my way, threatening lots of snow. Officials warning us to be prepared for possible loss of electricity. You know the drill.

I will probably be snowed in for a couple of days so I'll have no excuse not to install all my updates.
:)

As a side note, I just installed the 3.1 update on my Galaxy Tab s6 a few days ago. The FPS has vastly improved & the tablet has a screen protector on it. The difference is like night & day.

Laramie Wyoming i live will be here very soon.

After the update I began having significant problems getting the FPS to work. Finally I removed and re-registered my fingerprint. Works great now, better than ever before!

Hope you are doing alright after that winter storm. Glad that your fingerprint scanner has vastly improved! That make an enormous difference, when it works as it should.

well, i am on UI3.1 but continue to have issues with FPS. even after i have deleted and re-registered my fingerprint several times. it seems to work fine right after i added it, but then it stops working a few days later which is very very frustrating. i have even added two fingerprint (1 & 2) for the same thumb thinking it would help, but it does not. i must say i am surprised to read some of you do not have any issues since UI3.1. sadly, i have this issue since day 1.

I have also since 3.1, it might need a update I'm thinking , but what I found is if I wake the screen with power button it works lot better.

i have AOD enable. i wonder then if waking up the screen using the power button makes any difference.

can anyone verify how well FPS works with
1. wake up screen via power button, or
2. from AOD screen

Thats what I mean I have AOD enabled and from that screen it's a hit or miss , once I hit power button the fingerprint gets brighter and instantly no issues so I'm thinking a bug in AOD but could be the sensor.

hmm...interesting. so from the AOD screen, i wake the phone by pressing the power button per your suggestion, the fingerprint sensor appears, but then it goes away after 1 second. is that normal?
