Franco Kernel on the Nexus 6

There are two different unlocks on both the Nexus 6 as well as the Nexus 5. First there is the Carrier Unlock which it is unlocked (meaning you can use the phone on any carrier). And second there is the BootLoader Unlock, which will be locked when you buy a new phone, you must unlock it. One more thing is rooted and unrooted. The phone will not be rooted when you get it. A good time to unlock bootloader and root is when you get the phone, because this will cause data and/or app loss.

I've downloaded CF-Auto Root and WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. Is there a difference to using one or the other to root the phone? Also, I thought Nexus phones have unlocked bootloaders, yet I see videos on YouTube about OEM unlocking. What's that about?
